Consistently good food along with a great revolving beer selection keeps me coming back. They also do the fancy cocktail thing, but in an unpretentious way. Anyone will feel comfortable here.
Rail trail has a varied and inspiring menu, and had options to accommodate my recent choice to go Gluten Free. On top of that, they have staff and management who care about customer experience.
I was a bit distracted, and working on paperwork while grabbing a bite. Before I even noticed they apologized and corrected an error with my pizza, and the waitress and manager both handled the situation quite well. The food was excellent, and they offered to remake my pizza. They are definitely one of the great reasons to visit downtown Hudson.
The place was very busy tonight as many places were closed due to Memorial Day. Service was good, Mary had our table. We got drinks and appetizers first before deciding to order a couple of pizzas. After 30 minutes passed our food had not arrived and Mary did not stop by the table to provide an update, so I made my way to find a manager. He apologized for the delay and said he would take something off the bill. I said, I'd prefer to just have something to eat. The pizzas arrived shortly after and we all got to eat. The manager took all the food off of the bill, including the apps(not necessary but appreciated). The restaurant was clean, restroom was in decent shape aside from the trash needing to be emptied. I will go back again to give them a shot at a 5-star as the 2 reasons for the 3 are the bathrooms and the server not stopping by to explain the delay. Food was good , wings and truffle fries. The bread and spread could have been sliced into shareable sizes and not the full slices that needed to be cut to share.
Really, really good pizza. Hard to imagine a better craft beer selection. Had to be 30 high quality names on the list. They are busy for a reason. Love this place.
UPDATE (05/2019): 5-stars: I have to report for all to hear, Rail Trail has taken major steps to improve their customer experience! I had the pleasure of dining here recently and let me tell you, huge, huge difference. I was sat quickly by a friendly hostess, without incident, in the wonderful server Samantha's section. She was attentive, accommodating, and most importantly, she was nice! Sounds trivial, but it goes such a long way. I want to commend the restaurant for having a creative kids menu (love the Hudson touches) with a plethora of choices for little ones. I also want to add that the whole team was working together and helping one another out, and it did not go unnoticed. Great Job Rail Trail! Thank you for going the extra mile!
(05/2017): 3-stars: It pains me to give this rating. Like, deeply pains me. I want to start by saying that I love the food here. Love it! The items are always fresh and delicious. The customer service, however, sucks. I am not sure who is in charge of training the front of house staff, but they are always difficult to deal with. They do not share the philosophy that the customer experience should be top-notch every time. The hostess staff has sullied my last 4 experiences here, both sit down service and take out. They are curt, unhelpful, and not willing to make things right when they foul up. It is such a shame as the product put out here is so unique and sought after. I truly hope that this review is taken seriously by management as there is so much potential to improve the customer experience. I would love to be able to change this review after being wowed. Let's hope that happens soon.
