“I walked in with my girlfriend after a night of drinking craving an egg, sausage, and cheese bagel with a bagel with cream cheese on the side. There was a line but not too bad. However, I saw the panic in the eyes of the teenage employees that betrayed their inexperience. A woman in a cut off shirt who did not have the body for a cut off shirt ordered 4 bagels. The older man in front of me asked what every topping was and talked at the poor teenage girl about when he was her age. She laughed with a pained expression on her face. This alone seemed to be too much for this cohort of high school employees yet they took my and my girlfriend's order and then later the orders of people after us despite not finishing the tasks at hand. I lay out what I want for the breakfast sandwich with cool efficiency. I am about to add on the bagel with cream cheese when she turns away and starts talking to another employee. Not two seconds later, the girl asked me, "Wait, what did you want again?" I recount my sandwich order and am once again cut off before I can ask for the side bagel. I will catch her in a second. Nope. There is a mess of bagels being thrown around, eggs being slapped on griddles and panic in the air. The customer has no sway in this dominion, only Chaos reigns here. I get called over by the cashier before I could ask for my much craved second bagel. I mention this to the cashier and she inquires about it in a tone that says "What do you want me to do about it?" At that point I knew that it was a fool's errand to ask for the bagel now. I was correct, as I often am. It took a while for my breakfast sandwich to emerge and the bagel would have compounded that. Somehow I beat my girlfriend's sandwich despite similar orders and her ordering first. Reading this, you are probably wondering why I gave the Bagel Place 3 stars. When I finally ate the sandwich, it was very good. In fact it was great! Also the last time I went I had a much better customer experience. So the groundwork is there. If I based this review solely on the first experience it would be an easy 5. However, for the love of all that is holy, if you see any sort of line or see the baby faced employees panicking, consider going somewhere else.”

“This location is big, roomy, and clean but, it's a hit and miss with who's behind the counter. My orders have been mixed up or not completed or just something most every tip. Now, I just avoid going here, especially with parking from helllllo not good at all.”

“Great food but very little space to sit. Great prices!”

“What a nice place. Food, coffee, tea, bakery items (including gluten free) and super nice staff and owners. There is an art gallery upstairs of local artists, and the owners are community- minded and charitable. Parking is a little difficult”

“Lots of homemade items including turkey roasted in house and some fantastic cookies. Their tuna salad is delicious. The potato salad has a great flavor (though I have to cut the potatoes a little smaller). I'm looking forward to trying breakfast. Their sandwiches are enormous, and the ingredients are top-notch. They have wine, beer, and several different dessert options. This place is kind of like an upscale corner market or Bodega. Highly recommend. EDIT: I've come for breakfast several times, and it's delicious. The grab-and-go options are always tasty, and the sit-down breakfast is simple but great. Excellent ingredients. Highly recommend.”

“This Bruegger's is in the Auburndale section of Newton. Service is quick and accurate. I am normally their early in the morning but the selection of bagels is wide. The bagels are great. Crisp crust and soft interior just like they are supposed to have. Have a pretty cool app for their regulars with quick rewards. Two minor criticisms. The tea brand is terrible and they are not inexpensive. Worth the trip.”

“This is the first restaurant I've eaten at that's surprised me. I ordered a staple Italian dish: eggplant parmesan. I've ordered this dozens of times in dozens of restaurants, and I thought I knew what I was getting: deep fried heavily breaded eggplant drowning in sauce with some cheese on top. What I got instead were thin perfectly pan-fried slices of eggplant with a little pasta and a delicious tomato sauce to complement. My friends and family were similarly impressed with the food. This place is worth going out of your way to check out.”

“Nice employees. However, some staff often yells, and would recommend changing that habit. Overall it’s pretty good.”
