Food is great but boy is that cornbread something. I could eat a whole basket full. Sitting downstairs is the way to go, the atmosphere is way better to me
Food was amazing. Large craft beer selection too with a decent sized bar. Went with my wife and a friend and we all really enjoyed our selves. The pictures really say it all if you like what you see then you'll love how it tastes.
Wonderfully surprised by authentic southern soul food in a Boston suburb. The meat is delicious and fork tender. The fried okra is homemade and tastes freshly picked with a light and flavorful batter. The mac and cheese was okay - good but I've had better. Overall would happily order ago, despite the hefty delivery fee.
We celebrated a co-worker leaving last night, which consisted of a large reservation on a busy Friday night. Our server was amazing... David from Georgia! He was patient with our group, got all our orders correct, and was very helpful when it came time to pay the bill (since we were not the most organized). Food was delicious, drinks were delicious and David was the best!
My friends and I were on a trip to the US, and while in Boston, we decided to drop in on a Sunday evening for a classic southern style barbecue and fried chicken dinner. We made no reservation beforehand, but the hostess was prompt to seat our party of four and the waitress was very friendly, quick, and professional.
A detailed breakdown of the food we ordered followed:
Brisket
The brisket was authentic southern style brisket, and while it may not measure up completely to true Texas style brisket, it was certainly better than any brisket I had ever had in Canada. It was tender, flavourful, had a beautiful crust and a perfect pink smoke ring.
Fried Chicken
The fried chicken was average. It was breast meat, and unfortunately somewhat dry. The flavour was unremarkable. The texture of the breading was satisfactory.
Barbecue beans
Spicy and tangy, and not at all mushy, this side dish perfectly complemented and supplemented the brisket dish it was served with.
Collard Greens
Cooked in pork fat, these otherwise would be bitter greens were flavourful and tender.
Waffles
The waffles were served with the fried chicken. They were exceptionally crispy and perfectly sweet. They outshined the chicken.
