This darling little shop is a hidden gem that you need to make a point to visit if you are in the area. I grew up in West Virginia, and I had never had pasties before. They have a large (16 oz) and small (12 oz) beef or vegetarian offering for you. My husband and I got 1 of each, cut them in half and shared. That was a warm hand full of delishness made with a whole Lotta love!! The flavors were amazing. And the crust was paper thin. How does she do it? If the little table inside is empty, sit a spell and enjoy your pasties and perhaps you'll be treated to some great conversation with the owners. They were both delightful. I especially enjoyed it when the locals stopped in to get theirs. You could tell they all loved the owners and it was reciprocated. Don't forget a cookie or 6! 😉
We had a short five minute wait on our pasties and they were so good hot out of the oven. There's a reason it was busy! The blueberry walnut cookies were delicious as well.
So far the best place I have had pasties in the UP. We got to the place during open hours but the sign on the window said pasties sold out. So, we were sitting in the parking lot trying to figure out our next move. Next thing we know the owner comes out of the store and asks if we were wanting pasties, which we said yes. He then told us he had fresh ones coming out of the oven in about 20 minutes if we wanted to hold some. We ended up coming back and getting 5 of the large traditional. Oh my, the flavors were spot on, you can instantly tell they are homemade. For the four of us we could have gotten 3 and been totally fine. We took 2 back to our campsite to eat that night. While we were there, we chatted with the owner for several minutes. Super nice guy and a true family man. Price was 7.50 for a large pasties which was a great deal considering how big they were and how filling. We also ordered a bran muffin and molasses cookie, both were excellent. We will be grabbing several to bring home with us to Minnesota for the rest of the family to enjoy. Will be back here again next time we come camping.
Best pasty we have had in a long time!!!! We didn't even need ketchup. We bought large regular meat ones, chocolate chip cookies, and peanut butter cookies. Everything was delicious. We shared our last one on the flight home and were fighting over every bite. Can't wait for next year.
Super kind folks over here making your food. The small building is really cool. The owners told me it was a small gas station built back in the 1930's I think. The portions they make their pasties are huge and very delicious! Good stopping point to get some food if you're on your way up north to Copper Harbor or Lake Superior. By the way, their homemade cookies are worth the stop alone!
