La Cantina Mexican Restaurant of Hancock, MI

Address: 101 E Quincy St, Hancock, MI 49930, USA

“I have a high bar when it comes to Mexican food, so take this review as you will. The ambiance is good. Busy, noisy restaurant. At least the night we ate there. The hostess was amazing, great hugs! About a 30 min wait until we were seated, not bad. Our server was not very attentive. We saw him 4 times. When we ordered, delivered drinks and chips, delivered the meal, and delivered the check. It was busy, but he passed by our table many times. Our booth seat was like a teeter totter, We bounced every time the people in the next booth sat or shifted. The men's bathroom was falling apart, air freshener on the floor, no paper towels, and the stall lock wouldn't hold. Aside from all of that, the food was the biggest downfall. The Swiss Enchilladas had processed Swiss cheese from cellophane topping the dish, very little Verde sauce, and the filling was over salted. The Mole was very high in salt and almost inedible. The chicken nachos were good, and the salsa was good. The chori qeuso was mostly oil/grease. There aren't a lot of choices this far north, but my recommendation is to avoid this one.”

Milly's

Address: 108 Quincy St, Hancock, MI 49930, USA

“Probably some of the best pizza I have had at a restaurant. The pizza is Detroit style with the most delicious crust and scrumptious toppings. The salads are delicious too. The staff is friendly too. I will definitely return there on my next visit to the area.”

The Forge Food Smith

Address: 787 Market St UNIT 3, Hancock, MI 49930, USA

Restaurant

“Place is very clean. Lots of seating for a smaller shop. They were out of brisket so we got a burger, burger bowl and a pulled pork sandwich and Mac and cheese. All I can say is yum!!! We will be back. Highly recommended. Edit: Got the brisket plate today. WOW that was fantastic. I lived in Texas for 2 years and this beats every place down there that I went to. And I'd you like coleslaw, do yourself a favor and get it. The Granny Smith apples bring it up a new level.”

“Natural cut fries were AMAZING! Onion rings were great, especially when dipped in the thick, tangy ranch sauce they give you. Sandwich's were pretty tasty too.”

Nutini's Supper Club

Address: 321 Quincy St, Hancock, MI 49930, USA

Meal takeaway Restaurant

“I actually had a pretty decent steak here. It's a 1960's Time Capsule which makes it a fun place to spend some time and drink a few beers when the weather is sour. Their gorgeous neon sign alone should get this place designated as a Michigan landmark.”

Amy J's Pasty

Address: 1000 N Lincoln Dr, Hancock, MI 49930, USA

Restaurant

“This darling little shop is a hidden gem that you need to make a point to visit if you are in the area. I grew up in West Virginia, and I had never had pasties before. They have a large (16 oz) and small (12 oz) beef or vegetarian offering for you. My husband and I got 1 of each, cut them in half and shared. That was a warm hand full of delishness made with a whole Lotta love!! The flavors were amazing. And the crust was paper thin. How does she do it? If the little table inside is empty, sit a spell and enjoy your pasties and perhaps you'll be treated to some great conversation with the owners. They were both delightful. I especially enjoyed it when the locals stopped in to get theirs. You could tell they all loved the owners and it was reciprocated. Don't forget a cookie or 6! 😉”

The Waterfront Restaurant & Upper Deck Lounge

Address: 101 Navy St, Hancock, MI 49930, USA

Restaurant

“Restaurant is located in the Ramada Inn in Hancock. Great views of the Portage Lake Bridge from the dining room and outside seating. Very casual and cozy. Ordered the lake trout dinner and they're substitution friendly. Meal was reasonably priced but the trout was lacking something in seasonings. Service was great! I would eat here again.”

The Studio Pizza

Address: 426 Quincy St, Hancock, MI 49930, USA

Restaurant

“Pizza we took togo because they don't have seating inside. And they had a concert that night in their auditorium. Multiple things going on in this place. To look at the pizza making area it doesn't look like it would be great but it was a good pizza. The guy behind the counter was interesting to talk to.”
