I love trying new food and had never had Egyptian so I had to check it out! It a similar flavor to other Mediterranean type foods I've had. It was sort of a soup/casserole and was very good. I got the baby size which was perfect for a snack, and the full size would be great for a full meal!
We just happened to be in the building and I desperately needed food and coffee… I was blown away. The Turkish coffee was the best coffee I’ve ever had, and the baklava was phenomenal. I wish they had a location in Lansing so I could go all the time
Kosher dish is amazing! Spinach pie amazing! Kunafa amazing!! To drink the Trabi is sweet but equally delicious!! Quick and painless menu 😋 lovely service. Strongly recommend this new local restaurant!
The Koshery Bowl completely surprised me! I absolutely love it. It kinda reminded me of my Grandmother's goulash that I loved when I was a kid. The Koshery Bowl was just as savory and delicious but without the meat! Truly an impressive dish. I'm so glad I gave this small restaurant a chance. I'll absolutely be returning for more.
The restaurant is a small space with a couple of counters to eat or drink standing up. Outside the restaurant in the main building there are a couple tables and some seating.
Not a huge menu but excellent, well thought out food. I also tried the baclava. It's different from what I am used to. It's not packed full of sugar and floating in syrup. It's crispy, light and flavorful with a hint of sweetness. I'll guess it's a regional difference in the way they make it.
I also tried the Turkish coffee ☕ / Egyptian Special. Wow! It's amazing. Prepared perfectly and with care. If you've had Turkish coffee before then you'll love it! If it's your first time, you might want to acquaint yourself with how to drink it first.
All in all, A Taste of Cairo is a very welcome addition to the lunch options in downtown Grand Rapids and I can't wait to eat and drink there again.
I'm so glad this place opened up in my office building! The koshery is delicious and the perfect lunch. I also tried the rice pudding and it is a lovely cold dessert. The staff were really friendly and the music and atmosphere add to the experience. I will be frequenting this place.
