Kawa Sushi and Grill

Our experience at Kawa was very good for a new sushi restaurant. Staff is new and the service was good. There was no wait on a Tuesday night and service was fast. Food came out before I could put the menu down. We ordered a mix of rolls from simple to complex and was pleased with the taste, texture and sizing. I got 8 pieces per roll which is fairly competitive with the competition. The actual fish portions within the sushi roll was the biggest I've had on the west side of the state. We are looking forward to seeing this restaurant grow here in Rockford. We are hoping they will continue to add more rolls to their menu as time goes on. They are in a great location on the boardwalk overlooking the rouge river. An endless supply of salmon awaits..

Wonderful food and service! This is some of the best quality sushi I’ve had not only in Michigan but right up there with Vegas and Portland! They also have some delicious Korean dishes. As a bonus, they have outdoor seating with a beautiful, peaceful river flowing by. I highly recommend all of it!

BEST SUSHI EVER!!!! My husband and I have come here now at least 6 times since they opened and we love it so much! Everything is delicious and the staff is so nice and friendly. The fish is phenomenal. Highly recommend the spicy PINK SLIP roll! My favorite!

Easily my new favorite spot in Rockford. In a location that’s beautiful as well. The service is attentive, kind and organized, working together as a team, having 3-4 servers taking care of us. My water was never empty.
The chef was so awesome and even gave me information about the new dish I tried (his moms recipe!)
If you haven’t tried sushi before or you have you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
