“I ordered one of each of their tacos. They have a meatless taco, but that's a waste of time and calories. What's a taco without meat?!? I had hot sauce on the side. The steak taco was amazing. The pieces of steak were 'not too big, not too small'. When they're too small they get over cooked. When they're too big they can be tough to chew. Just the right size and great flavor. The chicken was very flavorful. The pork was my favorite. So much flavor in the meat. The corn tortillas were unlike anything I've ever had at a restaurant. They are made fresh for each order. So good. So soft. So full of flavor. Presentation was great. Atmosphere was great. Prices are what I'd expect($4-$5/taco). Tortilla chips(an often overlooked element to the official taco rating system) were awesome. Not so crispy that they damage the roof of my mouth(think cap'n crunch), but firm enough to hold the weight of the salsa. Speaking of the salsa, probably the best 'not made at home' salsa I've ever had. Yes, I'm sure the salsa you make from the ingredients you make in your all natural garden is better, but this salsa is amazing. So much flavor and not too spicy. I actually added my left over hot sauce to the salsa to spice it up a bit. If you like tacos you need to go here. If you don't like tacos, you should probably go see a doctor, they make medication for that.”

“Everything was so delicious!!!! There was about a 15 minute wait to get into the restaurant, but it was so worth it. The workers are friendly and they looked like they were having a lot of fun. The green goddess grilled cheese was SO good, and so were the pickle poppers and the truffle fries. I 100% recommend trying this restaurant. I'm definitely glad I got to while I was in town!”

“Our experience at Kawa was very good for a new sushi restaurant. Staff is new and the service was good. There was no wait on a Tuesday night and service was fast. Food came out before I could put the menu down. We ordered a mix of rolls from simple to complex and was pleased with the taste, texture and sizing. I got 8 pieces per roll which is fairly competitive with the competition. The actual fish portions within the sushi roll was the biggest I've had on the west side of the state. We are looking forward to seeing this restaurant grow here in Rockford. We are hoping they will continue to add more rolls to their menu as time goes on. They are in a great location on the boardwalk overlooking the rouge river. An endless supply of salmon awaits..”

“My boyfriend and I have been on the search for the best burger around so we thought we would give Grill one eleven a try and oh my goodness gracious did we find the best kept burger secret!! Not only was it full of flavor and cooked to a perfect medium rare but we will dreaming about this burger until we return which will probably be sometime in the next couple of days! “If you're looking for acceptable American-Mexican food in Rockford, this is the place. The service was good, but could have been a little faster. Very friendly, but also it took what seemed like longer than it should to get change after paying. The food took a little longer than expected, too, but was good. There weren't very many people in the restaurant and usually this sort of Mexican food is largely precooked. I asked for my Enchiladas Verdes to be spicy and the chef came out and gave me options, which was very pleasant. The murals enhanced the already lovely architecture, but the condition of a lot of the furniture was worn and much of the decor and menu was generic American-Mexican. The price was a little higher than what I expected, but not too bad. I'm guessing the cost of leasing the space is driving prices up and leaving little for maintenance/improvements/staff. Our meal took a total of 1 hour. (2 in our party) The quality of Mexican food here is almost certainly the best in Rockford, and is therefore a boon to the community. The location and two-story layout make for a great atmosphere.”
