Bluebird Restaurant & Tavern

I had the fried smelt basket. Outstanding! Lightly dusted in cornmeal and gently fried. I also had the plain potato skins which were very different than expected and quite delicious! Literally fried potato peels served with sour cream. Yum and Yum. We sat at the bar and the service was fast and friendly. I gave only 4 stars because the menu I downloaded from the web was not current so the prices were higher than listed. Easy enough to update the menu.

Amazing choice of fish and burgers! The Olive burger was to die for! Such good toppings! The Fries were amazing and the RANCH! Oh the RANCH! Two thumbs up here for sure! Good price points and good portions!

The 4 star rating is because our family has been going to the Bluebird for 53 years in a row, and it has always been a highlight of our vacation "up north". It is hard for me to write this, but feel i must let my disappointment be heard. My parents were there tonight, anticipating an enjoyable meal, once again. They reported that the salad bar was great, as usual, but that both of their meals were not good. Mom's had the whitefish, Dad had perch. Though an occasional disappointing meal is not cause to abandon a favorite restaurant, lack of response by the server and the hostess to my octogenarian parents, makes me concerned over the neglect to atone for the situation...offer a discount, free dessert, an extended apology?? It is important to make sure valued customers leave happy. My parents are not the type to complain much, and they do not use social media, thus, my review is what is showing up here. Of course, we will be back. But I'm suggesting that staff be trained on how to handle a dissatisfied customer. Tonight's experience would definitely not be 4 stars, unfortunately, my parents rated it only 2...
