The Latin Kitchen

Decided to try out this new restaurant, loved the food, very filling and healthy, and I loved how the food was served. The cook came out and explained the menu to us and was very helpful and kind. Would recommend to anyone looking to have a good meal in Shelby Twp

Tried this place on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. They have some fantastic food here. I tried the Chicharron and I haven't had fried pork belly like that in a very long time. The Cuban Panini was excellent as well. The ingredients were fresh and the roast pork so tender. If you're tired of the ordinary and in the mood for something different, come give this place a try. I'm glad we did.

Such a wonderful place! The food was delicious and presentation beautiful. It’s nice to have different cuisine locally. The family that owns the restaurant is absolutely lovely and so accommodating. We walked in right before closing, with a toddler, not realizing it was closing time and were going to come back another day. The owners insisted we stay and took great care of us. Also very bright, clean and well decorated.

I passed by this place last week and was intrigued by the concept in the area.
Being from Costa Rica I find that besides Mexican food we can’t find any other ethnic Latino variety.
Well, to my surprise the decor was welcoming and the service fantastic.
The dipping sauces were exceptional and the empanadas I dipped in hem were hot, crispy on the outside with juicy and flavorful shredded chicken as filling.
I wanted everything…. But we chose the stuffed tostones as a starter and they were savory and very pleasant. Continued with yuca fries and they paired very well with the sauces too.
For main I had “los tres golpes” a traditional Dominican dish with eggs, salami and fried cheese served with a buttery green plantain mashed and some pickled red onions so delicious and satisfying. My partner had the traditional mofongo served with pulled pork full of flavor.
For dessert we tried both the flan and tres leches what an awesome way to finish a wonderful meal.

My wife and I were tired of eating at Mexican restaurants, so we decided to spice things up and give The Latin Kitchen a try-man we are sure glad we did! Maribel, the owner, welcomed us in such a way that we felt like we were friends hanging out in her kitchen back home in the Dominican.

The food was authentic, packed with flavor and quite filling. I highly recommend the stuffed tostones, and my wife adored los tres golpes.

Don’t leave without trying the tres leeches or flan for dessert-both were out of this world!

Who would’ve thought you could have the taste of the island right here in Shelby Township?!? Such a refreshing concept and enjoyable dining experience! Highly recommend!
