Our first time ever to stop in Lake City and a good first impression. The beauty of the lake and the clean streetscape decorated with huge local pumpkins and cornstalks was sweet and colorful for the the fall season.”

“I have been to the diner dozens of times since 2008. Usually the food is good, service is friendly, and prices are reasonable. However, my most recent visits in July 2019, the wait between ordering and getting our meals was 25 minutes for omelets and burgers even though the diner was half empty. Two of our three orders were incorrect. The quality of the meals was less than previous occasions. Disappointing.”

“I am very critical when a place charges a high price per plate and makes me clean my own table. With that said I am impressed. Good food. I did have to take away 1 star as they force you to purchase a drink on top of their moderately high prices. They could have a water pitcher on the side or some way to provide water or charge something like 50cents for a bottle water rather than choosing to force everyone to purchase a drink. Not a big deal but can’t give 5 stars because of it.”

“This place has everything going for it. Great meats, great beans, great sauces, great service, nice aesthetics. A must stop if you venture through Lake City, Michigan. There are 4 or 5 sauces, I tried all but 1 and the flavors were terrific. The brisket was cooked perfectly. The BBQ beans had a nice flavor also. Best coleslaw I think I've ever had. Also the name has changed to Rustic Hog Barbeque as it has changed owners. Everything I reviewed is related to the food under the new owners. The past owners had good food also but it is a 10/10 now. Nicely done!”
