Good, basic, inexpensive weekend brunch. Nothing extraordinary, but good.
If you ever wonder what Exquisite stand for... you would understand at Spencer.
Yes, it is expensive and not kid friendly, but that place is a must have done in Ann Arbor. If you pass, you wasted your time here.
I had asparagus... simple basic Asparagus, I won't forget the taste of it because each flavor from the seasoning, and the topping to the asparagus it self was plain wonderful.
The texture was a perfect mix of soft and crunchy. Perfectly cooked and prepared. It was a delight.
That is Spencer. Simple, efficient, and so good.
Like the food: The place is neat and clean with a very simple look witch make the rest standout.
The service is top notch, really without a problem.
The wine selection is extremely good and pertinent.
Just try it.
Better than the food I ate in living in NYC. Menu is quirky and rotating so there's always something new to try. I never thought I'd want to pay $10 for a few fried beet greens but they were borderline addictive.
Fast casual ordering style is unique for a fancy restaurant but they pull it off well. Plus you can shop for wine off the wall while waiting for your food.
By far the best restaurant in Ann Arbor! I love that the menu is always changing to include seasonal, locally sourced produce, and that every dish is executed so well. Aside from serving great food, the staff is always friendly, and the mood/ambiance of the restaurant will bring a smile to your face.
Spencer is one of my favorite restaurants in Ann Arbor because of the delicious food and the unique atmosphere. The menu is constantly changing but everything I've eaten there has been really delicious. You can never go wrong with the cheese board! It is fantastic and the staff gives a great explanation of all the meats, cheeses, pickles, etc. The seating is communal so it can feel a bit squishy if you're not used to that sort of thing.
You order at the counter, leaving open your tab so you can go back for more if you want, and then the food is delivered to your table. The only complaint I had was that the menu is rather vague and it can be difficult to flag someone down to explain dishes. You are also responsible for filling your water glass. This is not the place for someone who wants attentive, traditional service, but it certainly offers a wonderful meal and a lovely dining experience.
