Great food, good portions, and really friendly service from an Ypsilanti institution. Taste of Soul will lift your spirits and the community. The owners are long time Ypsi standouts. Easily the most underrated restaurant in Ypsi. Why haven't you been here, yet? Why?!

I'll be honest it's more like 3.5 stars out of 5. But the place seemed clean inside. Did take awhile to get my carry out order. I got the ribs and for my liking they weren't that good. I could see other people liking these though. They were a little chewy and the sauce was a real runny. Like I said not my style but maybe others. Sides were mac n cheesy and fried okra. The mac n cheese was really good. Great flavor of cheese and cooked perfect. The fried okra seemed to be just from a frozen bag and deep fried. Not bad but didnt stand out. Little piece of cornbread that was dry so disappointed there. Overall a little pricey but I'd probably return to try the fish.

I used to frequent here for years but the food quality has changed. Yams and greens are from the can, mac and cheese is hit or miss. His BBQ sauce is good, though. The service has changed drastically as well- I call ahead to place my order, told it would be 20 minutes, then show up just to have to wait 20 more minutes. Prices have increased $2+ as well and it's not worth it, especially considering serving sizes. There's limited competition in the Ypsi area for soul food which is why I went there for so long.

I absolutely love the turkey chops here! The green beans, rice and gravy was amazing too. The food is very good and the flavors are on point. I often buy their sides to accompany my main dishes at home. The owner exhibits a high level of professionalism and understands the importance of great customer service by making sure the overall experience is outstanding. I give Taste of Soul my highest recommendation.

The owner is extremely nice and family friendly. I walked in the restaurant with my son and he made us feel right at home. Then I noticed 4 or 5 other people walk in and he talked with them the same way. He is nice, attentive, caring, and professional... Not to mention the food is Slammin'. It is so good. We drive 20 minutes just to get a taste of soul... It really is soul food. EVERYTHING IS GOOD and I mean everything. Thank you for being very hospitable... Its a great place to eat and feel welcomed.
