“I really enjoy the Anchorage. Very good food, very good pizza (which is nice considering there aren't a lot of pizza options in the area), and a fun bar atmosphere separated from a dining room with a good view and very nice for families. The menu is perfectly sized and varied. The Anchorage remains a good option in the area but I am updating my review from a couple years ago to reflect something my college-aged kids have reported when visiting with their friends. The service has not been as good for the younger folks despite the prices (and tips) being the same for them. One of my kids mostly brushed this off and will return but the other was irritated enough to pledge he won't be back.”

“Our family stopped and had dinner at the Char House while on vacation and the food was superb. My daughter said the Cowboy burger with fresh battered onion rings on top was amazing, other daughter said the ribs were the best she's ever had! The appetizers were great. My chicken sandwich was delicious. The owners, Rick and Linda are very nice and friendly! I would recommend the Birchwood Char House to anyone looking for delicious food and friendly atmosphere!”

I guess you could say it was our fault for not scanning the receipt close enough but our server should have said they hit us up for 18% and then we tipped on top of that. Of course that's the plan to hope you don't notice and double dip the tip. Didn't notice on receipt until we got home. Seems a bit dishonest to me.”

Our bartender gave us extra chips and salsa to bring home and we thought the gesture was a very nice touch. “Good standard cocktails, and the fish is done well. Not limited to North Woods catches, one can also often order seafood like crab or halibut. I was surprised not to find a featured walleye dish. The spinach artichoke dip with pita chips would have been better with less salt. Service is attentive and reasonably accommodating, though seating fills up quickly on a nice summer evening, as one would expect. Reservations are a good idea after 5 pm, and the dress code may tighten up a bit, depending on where one would like to sit. Of course, the main reason to come to Bar Harbor is the location, and there is plenty of lakeside patio seating. Umbrellas offer some shade, an outdoor bar cheers the atmosphere, and when the weather turns cool gas fireplaces keep it comfortable. Motor, paddle, or bike up to Bar Harbor and relax for a while.”

Stopped in and had an appetizer along with dinner and dessert. Everything was served fresh quickly and very well put together. Dishes had great flavor and wonderful presentation.
