Trail Center At Poplar Lake

Great spot to stop for a drink and a bit to eat when heading up the Gunflint trail!

Always make a point to go here when I go up north. Delicious restaurant with both breakfast and dinner menus. Little store if you forgot something for your trip and friendly customer service.

Every year we stay here at least once. When we stay at Rockwood we always eat here at least once. This is a well run business with a great atmosphere. I treat their property like it's my own and they treat us like family. Easily one of the top 5 places to eat on the North Shore. Well worth the drive from Grand Marais. Fish fry on Friday is fabulous and the battered fried mushrooms are the best appetizer I have ever had. Love their omelettes and hashbrowns perfect. Can't wait to get back!

Convenient place just off gunflint trail. Very clean, there's a small store at the entrance and a restaurant at the back. Everyone seemed very sweet. Server and food were super fast. I blinked and our food was there. They offer the usual burgers and salads but also had some vegetarian and gluten free options. I got the salmon patty. It tasted like a fisher crab cake. I really liked it :).

Their new guard dog on duty was so cute!!

We ate at the restaurant here and the entire experience was amazing. We came right during a rush, despite it being after 2pm, but the guy in charge (Austin, I believe?) was on top of everything and did not seem flustered at all. He was still smiling and joking around while hustling through everything. The wait staff were all so nice too. It kept everyone's spirits up despite the long wait, which we didn't mind anyway. And the food was delicious!! This place is worth the drive!
