Great food! Friday night date night, we had the chana eggplant and tandoori chicken - everything was excellent. Garlic naan is a must. Will definitely go back.
We stopped by for lunch on Saturday. Food was great. The cauliflower bites were really good as was the rest of the food. So many great sounding choices made it hard to choose. We'll be back.
No ambiance whatsoever, unless crass overhead lighting and the football game blaring is your thing. Definitely not mine, and not what I was expecting. The Full Moon red wine I had was nice, and moderately priced for a generous pour. I wasn't in love with the Naan pizza w/chicken. My service at the bar was just ok. Won't rush to return.
The chicken tikka masala tantalized with a delicate and complex flavor. Fried okra was crisp and tasty as was the cauliflower. We were all very pleased with our food selections including our vegetarians. Service was good enough and will no doubt improve. Great addition to the neighborhood.
Monkey Temple is quickly going to become the hottest place in the neighbourhood, I can tell -- not only is their food astoundingly good (not to mention Mac students have lacked Indian options in walking distance prior to their opening), they feature one of the most innovative cocktail menus of any bar in the neighborhood, their drink specials are fantastic, and their price point is accessible for college students and local residents alike.
The space is pleasant, with a British-style bar, TVs playing visible yet unobtrusive sports (prominent at the bar, mostly hidden from view in the seated dining area to minimize distraction), plenty of table seating, and comfortable lighting. Service was friendly and attentive, and the kitchen seemed fairly quick.
From the looks of the place, I was expecting a certain quality of food. My expectations were honestly exceeded. Not only was everything we ordered absolutely delicious, but their vegetarian and gluten-free options were quite extensive, quite exciting to a Celiac friend. With 2 daily happy hours on drinks and food, I'll definitely be spending a little too much time at Monkey Temple.
