“This was our first dine in experience after we had tried some of their sambusas during the North St. Paul car show. Our meals were fantastic and wonderfully flavored. If you're looking for good food and good flavor, you won't be disappointed!”

“Came for lunch as we were already in Lowertown. Breakfast is served until 2 but I got the Black and Blue Burger with fries from the lunch menu. The fries were good but weren't hot enough and the burger was delicious but $14 was a lot for it. Lots of tables, booths, and a counter with espresso options and alcoholic drinks. Would love to come back on a night when there is music. Metered parking in front.”

“The burger is great and the match stick fries are very good. We also liked the fried Brussels sprouts (they are very deep fried!). My wife really liked the hazy IPA and I would recommend the Munich Dunkel if you are a malty dark beer fan like me. I also had a coffee golden ale - it was pretty good. Our server was great - the fries were a little under cooked and she brought them back done perfectly. If you’re in Lowertown St Paul looking for a beer and a burger, I recommend Birches!”

“Wings taste like Shorty n Wags! Cooked well. Fries are hand cut and good in my opinion. The chicken tenders were also very good! Waiting kind of long for our food and it wasn't too busy but we'll definitely go back!!”

“Casual bar fare and drinks. Prices are quite high compared to the quality of the food. If you're looking for good food, I'd look elsewhere. But if you're looking for a good local dive bar feel, you can't do wrong with Hoggsbreath.”

“I’ve seen some reviews stating that service is slow or nonexistent. I did not see this. We were in last Saturday before a MN Wild game. We were greeted immediately and at. We were also brought water and our beverage orders were taken. The place was increasingly busy and soon the bar area was packed. We never felt neglected and our server was attentive. The food was very good. We had the brussel sprouts, scallop pasta, risotto and flat bread pizza. All were very tasty. Our cocktails were also very tasty, but not very strong. We’d definitely come back. We had great service, great food and decent drinks. The atmosphere is really nice with the fireplace.”

“Been darkening their door for probably 20+ years, and will continue. All the food is very good, but they are well known for the famous broasted wings. You will never have larger more tasty wings anywhere. Guaranteed! A superb neighborhood bar catering to the older crowd.”

“If you haven't been to this place since it became The Dog House (it used to be The Rock), give it a try. It's cleaner now. I also didn't feel like I was in imminent danger, so that's new. Door staff was courteous and the bartenders were good (one guy even had a little flair). Drinks were a little high ($7 for a rail single pour, come on) but we saw a band so it was $6.50 2-4-1s. They weren't using a measuring cup, so at least they're not cheap about it. The food looked good, but we didn't eat so I've really got nothing for you on that. If you have to be in Maplewood on a weekend, The Dog House seems like a good bet.”
