Authentic African Food that is very tasty can be served very spicy, medium spicy or with very mild spice. The menu lists the items by their African names but the friendly staff will expertly explain everything in English terms. Prices are reasonable and customer service is first rate. The best way to eat a meal here is to share dishes w/ table companions - nourishment for the body and the soul!
Different and really good... The servers were friendly... There's outdoor seating too... They have a lot of vegetarian options. The only thing is I wish they indicated things that were spicy or not bc i had no clue and ended up with something too hot for me but there were samples of the other items as sides so we got to taste a bunch of things. Overall i would def recommend it. Also, easily accessible from the streetcar at the city market.
I just LOVE this place. I've taken 2 kids under the age of 14 and two adults (one of whom is exceptionally picky) and I am yet to find the person who doesn't love it here. The food is fabulous and affordable. Not sure what you like? They have well priced huge combo plates (listed as serving 2, but they really serve 3-4). Also many vegan and vegetarian options. The lunch buffet had limited options, but is a great way to experience variety. Wine is affordable, too.
My vegan sister and I went here based on Google Maps reviews. We got the vegan sampler. My sister LOVED it. I liked it - I wasn't too wild about the bread-like base. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Everything was very good. Service was friendly, efficient and helpful.
I absolutely LOVE Ethiopian food. It’s easily one of my favourite cuisines. Having visited Kansas City last year I was pleasantly surprised at the Ethiopian food scene. Unfortunately Blue Nile was closed, a year later, here I am again so this restaurant was a must. I must admit, the food fell a little flat, whist it’s authentic, the flavours aren’t as robust and the portions are very very small when factoring in price. The side dishes and dessert were probably my favorite as the lamb was not at all spicy (quite literally not a hint of spice even though hot was requested). The injera also lacked the traditional tangy/sour notes that they are known for. This isn’t a bad place by any means but the flavours are muted and do not embrace the well bodied Ethiopian cuisine.
