A great new addition to the Shadowlake Towne Center. Mas Chingon is not your typical Mexican Restaurant.

The menu has a good selection of appetizers, quesadillas, burritos and tacos along with tortas, tostados and mariscos (seafood). A full bar is available and yes there is a Margarita machine.

The inside is decorated with wood accents and several whole wall murals. Authentic music playing in the background, but it can be a bit loud especially if you are at the table under the main speaker. Bar seats approximately 7-8 and there are around 12 or so tables - not overly large.

Wife and I have now gone multiple times and tried a variety of food items.

Start with the salsa sampler. Four different salsas. Pineapple and Maranzo Chili, Salsa Verde, Salsa Macha and House Salsa. Good flavors.

Try the Valentina Bites. You can choose chicken or calamari. It contains yucca, sweet plantains, cilantro and honey valentina sauce. Very tasty.
Got this about 6 times, only issue is consistency. A little different each time we have eaten it.

Burritos are fillled with your choice of protein along with rices, beans, cheese, crema, and pico de gallo. Also comes with a side of rice and beans. I got the shrimp. Good taste and good sized portion, but you already had rice and beans in the burrito so rice and beans on the side are just a bit much.

Also tried the Tortas - one pork and the other beef (Mexican Sandwiches).

We enjoyed the music and atmosphere of the restaurant. The two top tables are really close together so it might be a little uncomfortable for some to have to listen to the adjacent conversation. The restaurant is loud so people tend to speak a little louder as well.

Oh and don't forget $2 Taco Tuesday. Tacos are very good as well. Something like 12 different tacos to choose from.

Short story: food was somewhere between okay and good but we personally felt it was overpriced for the quality and quantity of food.

Long story: we started with drinks and the salsa flight. $5 for small draft of Pacifico. A bit disappointed in the number of chips given compared to the amount of salsa. Got about a cereal bowl worth of chips, we purchased another bowl of chips for a dollar. The chips were obviously homemade and good. Salsas were definitely unique in flavors. My husband enjoyed mixing and matching the flavors. I'm a very white, low heat tolerance person. Most of the salsas were too hot for me. My husband enjoys some heat and had no problems.

I ordered the chicken fajitas, as stated above I'm very white, I order them at most Mexican restaurants. They were definitely different than anywhere else. I'm also very picky but thought the flavors were very good, and at the peak of my spicy tolerance level. However, the actual chicken meat was very weird and disappointing. It was very tough and just had the texture of either being very over cooked or a cheap piece of meat.

My husband ordered 4 different taco's; asada, Al pastor, barbacoa, and carnitas. He felt they were all standard good. Not unlike the street taco's you can purchase from various food trucks around town. He also got a house margarita with his meal. Again, it was standard good, but at $10 for a small glass we were hoping for more in either quality or quantity.

All in all if we were to go back, it would only be for Taco Tuesday when they offer discounted tacos.

This is the best Mexican food I have ever had... for real. The service was great, & the beer, & tequila was the perfect edition. I love Mas Chingon.
