Library Restaurant

Stunning building. And excellent staff helped with my disabled friend entering this building. Thank you very much. Awesome food ????

We had a company dinner here with 30 people and they reserved a beautiful area for us all to sit comfortably. The service with drinks was excellent and as soon as we sat down we had our salads. The entrees came out shortly after that and my gentleman's cut was cooked perfectly. I never leave The Library without trying the best mac and cheese in Portsmouth so i had to order that as well which was as always amazing. Desert came after that and I topped it all off with another glass of wine and I was out the door feeling satisfied. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone and to any business looking to have a dinner like we had last night. Thanks to all the front of house and back of house staff for an awesome night!

This is still one of my favorite restaurants to go to but I can’t give it more than 3 stars because the last 4 times we’ve been there the service has been pretty awful. If your paying $200. For 2 people to eat the following should never happen: 1. The server spills half your drink before they set it down on the table and then doesn’t bother to give you a fresh cocktail napkin. 2. They don’t ask you if you want water. 3. Beer delivered with no glass and not even the server asking if you want a glass like we’re in a dive bar.4. One person orders and the server walks away assuming that’s the order for both people. Scratching head on that one. 5. After repeating order 3 times server must retrieve her notebook to write stuff down.????????????6. After 30 minutes rolls arrive.???? really? 7. Food takes forever. 8. Take out boxes too small to fit food. 9. Forgets to bring bag. Some of these may seem trivial but when they happen altogether it’s just too much for an expensive meal. On the good side, the food was tasty and the steaks were cooked properly and still one of the best places for a martini even if you have to wait for it, which you will.
We eat out 7 days a week and lately service has been pretty lame all around. Bring back professional servers please!!!

Although previous ratings indicated that service was slow and non attentive my wife and I decided to give the Library a shot and boy were we pleased. From the start service was splendid and spot on. Both ordered the filets and they were out of this world. I would recommend this place to anyone that loves steak and great service. The atmosphere was private within a small room setting. We sat near a book case which provided privacy and intimacy for our anniversary dinner.
