The Friendly Toast

My food was hot, fresh, and yes...Friendly. Interesting eclectic decor. Attentive staff and comparable prices. Sunday morning after 8:30 maybe a 20 minute wait, but benches outside to sit on. This was a really good breakfast!

Good food and a fun atmosphere. It's not the Portsmouth of yesteryear nor is this the friendly toast that I remember. But that's okay, the new owners have done a good job in making the restaurant feel unique and special while bring the quality of service into this century.

Waitress Jess took excellent care of us. I appreciated the recommendations and her knowledge of available menu options and substitutes was very helpful. Her "can do" attitude, positive demeanor, and friendly upbeat vibe made my slow morning a happy one. First time here in Portsmouth and in this restaurant and I will definitely make this place a go-to stop when I am back up this way again!

Hadn't been there in over 20 years. It was just as good as ever. Can't wait to go back again.
The food is eclectic to say the least... You'll won't find many of these flavor profiles or textures anywhere else.
It's kinda like your favorite diner has been hijacked by great chefs kicking it inside the minds of their 18-year-old selves.
The service is super chill and spot on.
So cool.

Amazing atmosphere and friendly welcoming family environment. Affordable eccentric dishes. Something here for all ages and palates. Little bit of a wait but perfection doesn’t come fast and cheap. 100% will recommend to anyone that is visiting Portsmouth.
