“Visiting the area from new jersey and hotel staff recommended this place. Living so close to NYC we often go eat at high end places in the city and let me tell you, this food is as good and even better as those high end NYC restaurants. The service was top notch and fast. All five of us lived the food and the Bavarian creme cake was to die for. Who would have known this gem would be hidden in a small new England town. Next time we come up to Dover we will definitely be back!”

“Great chain restaurant! Food is consistent and tasty. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Went here for a light lunch with my wife and little girl and had an enjoyable lunch. There are a lot of good restaurants in New England. By no means does this three star review mean it’s bad, there is fierce competition and this place is dated. The salad was a great portion and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. The chowda is tasty and we all enjoyed taking it down. The rum punch was a great touch and made in house. Bring the family down and go enjoy a fun meal!”

“Do yourself a favor and next time you’re in Dover, stop by Sonny’s. Great local beer and amazing food. I ordered the dry aged pork with truffle risotto and braised greens. The pork was so juicy and flavorful and the grits were AMAZING. I haven’t had pork prepared this well in a long time. I wish I ordered a whole damn plate of the grits to have some to take home. The greens were cooked well and a god mix of tangy and spice. No reservations needed, but it’s nice to be able to seat yourself.”

I really have to thank the owner who is one of a small select few who gives a first responder discount. When I first started going there 4 years ago, it was 50% off the order. “What an experience! Firstly, our waitress and chef seriously took care of us. I have a lot of food allergies and they went out of their way to consult me and ensure my safety. The chef took my selection from the menu and created an allergy-friendly version of it. It was delightful! My friend is intolerant of gluten and they also went out of their way to ensure her safety while providing a delicious experience. I normally find one item on a menu I'm interested in, there were at least 4 or 5 and all of my friends loved what they got. The ambiance is comfortable and modern, the alcohol selections are good. “Great selection of unique food. The Captain's Toast is battered in Captain's Crunch and the thick bread is perfect. The corned beef hash was highly recommended by others at the bar and it did not disappoint. It is heavy on the meat and the potatoes are soft and well-seasoned. Getting seated was awkward because I wasn't sure what to do. BTW, it's seat yourself. They could do better about taking names and calling when there's a seat available.”

“I went with family and everything we had was close to perfect. I worried a bit when there were a few ingredients they were out of, but the substitutions they made were as good or better. The veggie dumplings seemed to be homemade and we scarfed them down. The service was exceptional, attentive but not intrusive, like a high end restaurant. That really put the gold finish on an otherwise excellent meal.”
