Surf City

While many may reach this on foot or car from Jersey, for me it is a regular destination in warm months of me and my paddle boarding and kayaking friends. We tend to go as a group from New York and there are regular trips for experienced paddlers to Surf City from Manhattan Kayak + SUP for experienced paddlers. Good food, nice bar---but be sure to bring your ID (paddlers sometimes don't want to worry about carrying it, they won't let you in without one; because they serve alcohol). It is a neat location adjacent to the historic Morris Canal turning basin as well as several marinas across the channel. Near to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty.

I would definitely say this is a dive bar with an awesome setting. If you're looking for a nice classy joint... Well this isn't the place. If you're looking for a place with a view of the water with a nice setting, definitely go check this place out.

Decent pours but nothing to write home about.

Great place to stop off if traveling by boat. Restrooms always available even before they open. Fuel up in the same area. Dog friendly also... We always bring our dog on the boat and she loves the attention at the restaurant

Great place to kick back and have a drink with friends. We went on a Friday night. Stood till about 11pm. The ambiance is great with indoor and outdoor seating and bars. It reminded me of a high school cafeteria... Only for adults. Food served till 9:30pm and delicious, I might add.
My only issue was music. I just wasn't feeling it. Maybe I left too early.
All in all, I will be going back. I had a great time.
