My go to place for Thai food in Jersey City. They offer reasonably good variety during the Lunch Specials. Absolutely love Sky Thai's Papaya Salad, Tom Yum Soup & of course the Devil Fried Rice!
Good Thai food with BYOB and reasonable prices.
Located in the nice Paulus Hook Section of Jersey City on Morris by the corner of Greene, it's pretty easy to locate. Street parking is difficult to come by and is mixed between permit spaces and free.
The restaurant is very clean and has a nice cozy feel with moderately dimmed lighting, brick walls, and dark wood.
The staff doesn't really add or take away from the experience. They could be nicer, but it's not a huge complaint. The rush of people at lunch can be a lot.
I typically get the lunch peanut curry special with calamari, which is good and spicy. Other guest get the Drunken Noodles with chicken or beef. The portions are a decent size with a side soup or salad, but it's the dressing that makes the salad great. There are certain up charges depending on the protein and still some is strange, because the calamari isn't amazing quality and some dishes have real duck, while others have imitation duck.
They used to have a liquor license, but that is no more so I can only speculate. You can bring your own, or they do have different teas in addition to the normal restaurant choices.
This is the only Thai restaurant I have been to in Jersey City, and it's not bad. I certainly would be willing to try another location, but not sure if it's worth it when this meets my needs in lunch Thai.
I order lunch here often. Consistently yummy. Although sometimes the service is less than admirable. I understand the restaurant is busy and that can be stressful but be nice to your customers always! Especially the ones you see coming back.
Sky Thai is a nice restaurant in Jersey City with cozy ambience and flavorful comfort Thai Food. The food is really great with my favorites being Curry Puff, Devil Fried Rice, Basil Fried Rice, Drunken Noodles and Masaman Curry. The service is quick but not very polished. You will have occasional rough experience. But don't get distracted by that since you will always come out pleased after dining here. This place is crowded for lunch due to the presence of several offices nearby and lunch specials they offer. Best time to dine here is in the evenings when the ambience is romantic and not many customers in. All in all, this is a perfect neighborhood restaurant where you can go frequently with friends and family.
Easy choice for lunch. Decent lunch specials with standard Thai noodle, curry, and rice dishes. The menu items marked spicy are generally actually pretty spicy, unlike other places, so be careful!
Service often rushed and sometimes a bit rude but generally OK.
