Descendants Brewing at the Old Ship Inn

Awesome little brewery and restaurant! Super friendly owners who have breathed a new life into the space full of history and warmth. The new menu is amazing, featuring food inspired from their own ancestry, including German, Alsatian, Belgian and American food as well as paying homage to the history of the space itself, keeping quality British fare on the menu as well. The beers are delicious and well crafted, and the cocktail menu is a welcomed addition!! If you're looking for great food, beer, and drink in a wonderful atmosphere with phenomenal owners and welcoming staff, this is the place!!!

I've been coming here for years when it was the Ship Inn. Came in today (02MAY) for the launch weekend of Descendants Brewing. Even though the menu doesn't have some of my favorites from the Ship, the food and service was great. As long as they keep brewing Best Bitter, I'll keep driving an hour to drink it!

Many thanks to Joe, Anna, Brian and the entire staff at the Ship Inn for hosting our daughter's wedding reception last Saturday. The food and service were outstanding and they were able to accommodate all of our requests on a tight timeline. The Ship has long been a favorite local hangout and under new ownership it has only gotten better. We look forward to the grand opening as Decendents Brewing Company and will hold the special memory of this past weekend in our hearts every time we walk in the door, which we expect will be often. 2 thumbs up!!

Ship Inn/ Descendants Brew Pub has been a long time local stop for me for more years than I care to admit. But this is my first time in several months. Part of the transition from Ship Inn to Descendants Brewing has involved some tasteful renovations/update which nicely blend the old charm with an upscale look.
In addition to their on premise brews, they have a nice selection of "guest taps" and English/ European bottles. An expanded menu offers some staples and new offerings.
I started with a Best Bitter and some Old Bay seasoned wings. The wings were meaty, juicy and very crispy (no breading). The Old Bay went great with a side of Dill dipping sauce. The Best Bitter was of course as good as it's always been.
For my main course I chose the Wild Boar burger with Bacon & Goat Cheese. It was cooked as ordered (medium), juicy and delicious! While great on it's own, the side of Mole dipping sauce was a great enhancement and worked well with the flavor of the boar, the thick cut bacon, and the creaminess of the goat cheese. I washed that down with the house Irish Stout.
Very awesome meal, friendly and attentive waitstaff. If you've never been Go! If you're just venturing out for the first time in 2021, make sure this is on your shortlist.
