Skil-Lit Cafe

Absolutely a gem in downtown Trenton. The food is always delicious. The staff is very friendly. Although I wish the location was bigger to accommodate more people, it just makes we wake up a bit earlier on the weekend to grab their brunch! I highly recommend this local, Black-owned business!

The staff was very kind and very comforting especially towards newcomers as myself. The food was honestly amazing. I haven’t had a good breakfest meal from a diner in ages. Also, the decor in the Cafe is spectacular. It sets a theme for people to be photogenic and wow them.

Would highly recommend to family and friends..

I've been dying to try this spot for a while. I went with my husband on a Friday afternoon and it was filled with a local crowd which was pleasing. We were told to seat ourselves anywhere and chose a wall booth. Our server was attentive and we ordered lemonade, which we were a bit disappointed with because it was giving Country Time. The fish and grits were bomb and something we'd order again. The fish was flavorful and fried to perfection. The grits were cooked to perfection as well. The presentation was a bit awkward but fit the theme.

Salmon toast was disappointing in presentation. Don't get me wrong, the dish is promising and the taste was there. With that being said, it consisted of four small pieces of baguette, cream cheese, smoked salmon, and everything seasoning. I think it would be better if the baguette was toasted and perhaps cut lengthwise in 2 pieces. Or even some sort of everything bread or bagel. It felt more like an appetizer than a lunch.

Lastly, the potatoes were mid. Not something I'd order again.

Overall I'd give this place another chance because there's plenty more to try on the menu and what we had was a nice change of pace for the area. I'm looking forward to what's to come from this new, Black-owned business.

Food was edible, but incredibly under-seasoned. I’m not saying swell my feet, but I shouldn’t need hot sauce. Flavor was limited across the board. That disheartened me.

Also, Options are limited. Small menus are cool but there should be much more pizazz. Special sauces, maybe?

Heard about this awesome breakfast place to go here in Trenton… And honestly the food here is amazing!!! My fiancé is a picky eater and he even was satisfied with the taste of everything being perfectly seasoned.. The Vibes and Food here is Fantastic! Definitely will be coming back! 10 out of 10
