ROOT 66 Vegan Cafe

Absolutely LOVE this place. I’m not vegan but this has become my go to. All the food is homemade morning of by the baker Jack so he can tell you everything in each dish - great if you have any dietary restrictions/allergies. It feels like you’re getting a home cooked meal. On Fridays they have the most amazing baked goods and the Jerusalem bagels are absolutely incredible! Cannot recommend this place enough. Plus dog treats for your pup!

This delicious food is made with love that you can actually taste! I don't know what took me so long to try Root 66 and Jack's Magic Bakery, but I got takeout from there for the first time, and it was truly amazing!

I ordered four of the pit stops to split with someone - the "egg" salad, the cranberry chickpea salad, the coleslaw, and the couscous. It comes with a little roll, and I also ordered an extra roll. The food was so good that I didn't want to split it. Simple vegan food but with the BEST yummiest flavors. The rolls was so fresh it melted in my mouth. I also got 2 deserts to try - both of them were yummy treats that are hard to find prepared vegan. One was a biscochito and the other was a peppermint patty - like the non-vegan candy made by York. Oh my goodness! I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. They were both absolutely delicious. I'd expressed interest in the fudge too, so Jack (yes, I got to meet the wonderful owner) gifted me two pieces. Yum! Yum! So much kindness - to animals, the planet, and customers.

I'm so impressed and ready to go back every day.

Wow oh wow oh wowwwww 😻 The food here is absolute perfection!! The smell of all the fresh baked goods is intoxicating!! The salad, the pit stop, the bread roll, oh my gosh the peppermint patty!!! The matcha iced tea latte was perfect!! 🤤🤤🤤 I will be coming here every chance I get!! And the lovely men working here are incredibly nice and efficient!!

Frankly, these folks deserve 6/5 stars. I got the “crab” cake, which was easily better than most of the “actual” crab cakes I’ve had in my life. The corn salad on the side was incredibly fresh and the perfect complement. My mom got the Root 66 salad which was delicious as well; it seemed like a pretty unique twist on your typical house salad. The iced oat-milk mocha absolutely 1-ups anything similar you could get at Starbucks.

But the real motivation for this review was the service. The two folks running the cafe today (father and son I would guess?) were absolutely delightful, offering samples and just generally being some of the nicest folks I’ve encountered lately. Not to mention the service was lightning-fast as well.

Suffice it to say that ROOT 66 has earned a couple of repeat customers, and I imagine it won’t be long before I’ve tried everything on their menu.

EDIT: I’ve already been back twice since initially posting this review, and it’s been just as fantastic each time. Mainly updating this review to actually include a picture of the crab cake plate (probably still my overall favorite) because the presentation deserves praise in its own right (for a to-go order, no less).

Having gotten the chance to chat some more with Jack and his dad, I truly can’t overstate how lovely these folks are. Oh, and all of their desserts/baked goods have been incredible, but the lemon bars are SERIOUSLY out-of-this-world.

Food here is amazing! The egg salad is some of the best I have tried! Menu is 100% vegan and 1000% delicious! I always love when healthy, vegan, and tasty cross paths. Owners are super friendly and attentive. I will definitely be back!
