I love pubs and this place does a well enough job replicating that style of atmosphere. They have Guinness on tap, of course, and if you're looking for bangers and mash then you're in luck!
Came here because I wanted to have a conversation with some friends and everywhere else was full. No problems with the service, although the menu we got was pretty dirty. The prices and selection are pretty average for the area.
Great Irish PUB! Excellent food with outstanding staff! Great atmosphere and plenty of TVs to watch the game. Not overly loud and not too crowded - clean and inviting! Thoroughly enjoyable and would highly recommend!!
Food isn't bad at all especially for the price.
I went here with some friends for dinner and drinks and ordered the meatloaf. Gotta say it was quite tasty. And I'm not really a fan of meatloaf.
They serve a really solid Guinness which says alot for pubs in the states. Nothing beats Irish pubs in Ireland for Guinness but this place is good.
Place is owned by a cool blond lady in her 40s I believe and she runs this place amazingly. Boss lady is no joke. Makes all her guests feel at home. But we had the best waistress Leah. Her knowledge of liquors, wines, and the intricacies of their menu is spot on. She wasn't annoying at all, made sure she was always attentive without being overbearing and was completely cool with how all 8 of us wanted to handle the bill at the end.
I'm definitely coming back here. If you want a good spot to watch sports, and drink a pint of good Guinness, then come to St James Gate...
his is a great place for a drink and comfort food at affordable (for NYC) prices. The staff are lovely and the food is OK, if a little greasy. The portions are HUGE and very filling. Unless you are feeding teenage football players, the shepherd's pie should be shared and some of the grease drained off. Salads are good. One of the few pubs where sports are playing on every television, but there are still quiet nooks if you aren't into the game. The potatoes in the bangers and mash and shepherd's pie appear to made with instant, which is pretty poor for Irish food, and the shepherd's pie needed onions, but still not bad at all. Great beer selection and an excellent cider
