Great food and service. The Pork Prig Pow was amazing!

We went here because of the 3 courses for $30 event that restaurants downtown participate in. I'd heard about this place on NPR so I figured it was a good opportunity to try it. It's a little confusing because it's basically one restaurant that has two names. We walked into the Bistro Elephant entrance and stood by the empty hostess stand for a few minutes, very confused. We'd made a reservation but we had no idea where to go since the hostess stand was empty. We thought maybe the hostess had stepped away and would be back. A busser walked by and said nothing. So we waited. We made eye contact with the bartender but he looked away so we just kept waiting. Then we kinda started walking around, looking very confused. None of the staff talked to us when they walked by as we slowly walked around trying to figure out which direction we should go. Eventually we went up to the bar and asked where to go if we had a reservation. We were directed to go to the lemongrass entrance, not bistro elephant's. So if you go just make sure you go to the lemongrass entrance because there are no signs at the bistro elephant entrance to direct you and staff will not tell you unless you stop them specifically. Our server was very sweet and friendly. She seemed very nervous at first but she seemed to get more comfortable. Our food was good but nothing to write home about. The apps were probably the best part. The entrees were luke warm but tasty. My swordfish was cooked well with a really tasty and beautiful sweet chili sauce, my fiance's filet mignon was not cooked medium rare (even though the menu said medium rare and medium were the only two options) and was a little on the chewy side and the plating was oddly stark with just the steak set on a mound of potatoes. We didn't leave unhappy necessarily but I don't think we'll be back. It definitely didn't stand out as anything special.

Went in after a long day in the fields. Didn't have time for a shower or proper attire, but I was treated like a king.
