We loved everything about our experience at Main Deck! The food was exceptional, service top notch and what a location - wow! We've been touring the Finger Lakes this week and this was our BEST dining experience.
Place is beautiful, but as you go to your table there are a few places that make it not so great. The server was nice, but EVERYTHING was slow. Our drinks took 20 minutes to get. The server only came to our table twice. Once for taking order and taking dessert. They did not come and ask about our food or check if there was a problem. Food was great, interesting options, and the dessert was good. There was an over charge on our bill and the manager seemed disgusted to make the fix. The bussing staff seemed uneducated in what their roles were. Again this is fault on managing since there job is to “manage” the staff. Overall I’d rate it 3 stars because nothing really wowed me. If you go be prepared for a 2 hour experience. If you leave before 2 hours, nice that’s a bonus!
By the way, I had the Rabbit
Had a wonderful experience at Main Deck last Sunday night! The interior of the restaurant brings a very upscale vibe, but still keeps to the roots of the region and boating company that the restaurant pays homage to. We had the opportunity to sample a good portion of menu, and honestly the quality of the food throughout - whether focaccia, pork belly, chicken leg, rabbit, scallops, you name it, it was all top notch. Living in Boston, I can only name a small few restaurants that I've experienced that were able to match this level of consistency. Definitely plan to visit again, and hopefully spend some time out on the gorgeous bar patio!
Had an excellent dinner here on Sunday night! We had a large group, and ended up sampling a good portion of the menu. Everything was delicious, especially the Pork Belly and the BBQ rabbit. We were told that the chef is originally from New Orleans, and he definitely brought some of that Cajun flair with him. Very reasonably priced for the quality of the food as well, and beautiful views of the lake. Would definitely recommend dinner around sunset. Seems like they are still ramping up the wait staff as this is a new restaurant, so we had some minor delays, but everyone was VERY nice and professional. Definitely worth the trip up the lake if you are looking for a nice dinner in the area!
I think this place has a lot of potential, but needs operational and quality improvements. It did not meet my expectations going in.
Firstly, I was served the incorrect drink and my wait staff argued that it was indeed the correct drink. Later, they acknowledged that the bartender served the incorrect drinks, but I was not offered our originally ordered drinks.
Second, the food left more to be desired. The pork chop had more fat on it than meat; the Spaetzle was very salty; and the Schnitzel had more fried bread crumbs than meat.
Third, the staff, though very nice, were very uninformed about the menus. The cocktails were listed cryptically and the wait staff were equally confused. I was also charged an extra fee for having a drink made "on the rocks" and another made "neat". Those charges seemed absurd and my wait staff had no explanation and were equally baffled.
The most positive aspect was that the restaurant is absolutely beautiful. The architecture and decor are very classy and artful.
