“It’s different, the staff is friendly, engaging, a feeling of kinship/friendship, welcoming, and helpful. It’s like coming home after being away. The ambience is wonderful, it’s a feeling of being transported to Italy. We ordered Pizza, it’s the best ever, the other bowls and plates of food looked wonderful! I could see myself going for a beer, alone, feelings of nostalgia.”

“Always great staff. Definitely accommodating for any type of request. They even offered to separate the meat on one of the sandwiches I ordered and put it in a tub so I could put it on the bread later and heat it up. Oh, and the food is good too.”

“I was going to meet my daughter, grandson and 3 younger children my daughter cares for after school. I decided pizza would be and easy enough to sit in my daughter's mini van and eat before going to the arcade. When I got up with my daughter the children were excited for the pizza. It was much to my dismay that one of the pizzas not only was it very burnt it was Not cut in to slices! Lots of fun with 4 children ages 4 to 7. My advice to self open the pizza boxes before leaving the store next time.”

“The food is always good, but they are frequently out of sliced barbq. I went in today to get a sliced sandwich and the young woman at the counter said they were out. When I asked why they were out, she shrugged her shoulders and laughed nervously and didn't answer my question. So I asked one of the men behind the counter in the kitchen"why" and his response was "we are always out of everything. I just work here." So, I am going to stop frequenting this establishment. There are other bbq joints in town that don't seem to have these problems. I will, However, miss the older woman who works the drive through window. She is the most professional thing about this place.”

“In the debate of Alamance County's best hot dogs, Skids II is my favorite. Lately, the service at the pickup window has improved. But this visit we actually had good service from our waitress. She was very attentive and the food was great, as usual. I always look at the menu, because there are so many things to choose from, but I usually stick to the hot dogs. If you want a cherry Pepsi, they use real cherries. I recommend tater tots over the French fries. And if you still have room when you're done, treat yourself to a hot fudge cake sundae. If you don't have room when you're here, get it to go, take it home and put it in the freezer until you're ready for it.”

“Probably the best Mexican food around out here. Rather disappointed with Mexican food in NC. Coming from California where good Mexican food is in abundance, out here its hard to find. This place would be 5 star if it had a proper resteraunt setting. A little weird sitting in the middle of a store, but it's still a good place.”

“Great Friday Soul Food Buffet. A bit pricey, but you get your fill, if you don't mind waiting a bit for the "regulars" to finish scooping up most of the pork items. The only put out small warming trays of certain items, so if you're not there early, or you are behind someone who likes to take LARGE portions (at a buffet), you better plan on a little wait time for them to sit out more items. Other than that, the food and service staff are great. Maybe they could open on another night with identical menu for those who aren't Friday night "friendly".”

“I love this little local place. It is small (8 or so tables plus counter seating) and homey. The staff was friendly, the food was made to order, the service was quick and the meal was delicious! In addition... best prices in town! This will definitely be a regular stop for me.”

“My boys love coming to downtown Burlington to see the trains and to eat ice cream at Smitty's! I love how relaxing and inviting it is! There's games on the tables and a shelf with other things you can use! The ice cream is super creamy and delicious! This was our first time trying the frozen yogurt and my husband and I were impressed! It was nice to have another healthy option, in addition to the sorbet! Now that we purchased an ownership share in the co-op next door, I'm sure we'll be here even more often!”

“Went for the first time last night, and it won't be our last. The interior was old school, high ceilings, big open rooms and a comfortable bar to hang out with friends. Menu had plenty to offer and we ordered a basket of bread sticks with Marinara that came out fast and hot. They were plenty of them and well seasoned, the Marinara was delicious and plenty of it also. We both ordered Italian dressing for our salads that were large in size that turned out to tasty as well. She had the Everything Spaghetti, mushrooms, sausage, meatballs all in a large plate with melted mozzarella and I had Lasagna. She loved hers and mine was very good too. Our waitress was spot on, keeping the table clean and drinks filled. Valerio's is a keeper for sure.”

“We've been here several times and the food and beer have been good! I love the brunch menu! My Glencoe burger and truffle fries were so delicious! I wish the dinner menu had a few more options, but maybe that's a goal for later on? Not sure if there's a kid's menu, but that might be nice too! The main thing I would like to see is a designated "host" stand. The sign out front says "please see host," but really it should say "stand near the doorway looking confused until someone sees you and tells you to sit wherever!" This has happened to everyone I've seen come in during the times that we've been here. We love coming to downtown Burlington and it's nice to have this beer co-op here! We'll definitely be back!”

“Like going to your southern grandma's house for breakfast. The country ham biscuit was always a favorite of my great grandmother's before she passed away. Our kids love the huge blueberry muffins. Try the sausage egg and cheese biscuit with scrambled eggs instead of fried egg if you want to experience perfection! (I'm dead serious about this folks). Also, if you order the fries as a side, they no longer put as much/any seasoning on them, so be sure to request extra seasoning. Wash it all down with their southern sweet tea and repeat!”
