Boss Hog BBQ Restaurant

So Boss Hog changed management and/or ownership sometime in 2018. We’ve lived in Sherrills Ford about four years and had an entirely unsatisfactory experience at Boss before the change.

What a difference!

Don’t get me wrong. My observation of the old Boss was a very popular joint that, based on the look of the place-inside and out—was not appealing. I guess the BBQ was good, we didn’t think so, but it was a no frills place.

The new Boss hasn’t changed in size or shape but it’s way more appealing in its appearance. It’s still a no frills BBQ joint but it doesn’t inspire apprehension walking in the door.

By the way, the food is excellent; the Shrimp PoBoy is loaded with shrimp, the Pork and Chicken are top notch. Service is quick and friendly.

Here’s to Boss Hog, fine dining it isn’t, fine food is absolutely is.

Spicy (Hot) BBQ Sauce to strong on the Vinegar flavor. Love the regular sauce. BBQ was tender, moist and not an over powering of Smoky Taste.

Best food around. We eat there usually twice a week. Bbq is absolutely awesome, best fish sandwich I've ever had. Tried most items on menu and never been disappointed. Fast and friendly service. Highly recommended, a must try.

This NC gal knows BBQ and this place is spot on! Excellent vinegar based sauce and their meat has a wonderful balance of seasoning and smoky flavor. They also have great side dishes. My kids devour their corn nuggets, while my favorite is the hush puppies. The new management has added items to the menu and upgraded the soda machine. The dining room is on the smaller side but we always get ours to go anyway.

Best food establishment in Catawba County, large variety of food so even the pickiest eaters have choices. Very nice staff with quite the family friendly atmosphere. Love it. 10/10 recommend
