Blackbeard's Triple Play Restaurant & Bar

Always a pleasant experience at Blackbeard's!! The staff are warm and welcoming. They have a lot of fun drinks to try as well as a great menu. Blackbeard's is always my top choice when I'm able to venture out, whether it be a special trip or just a pit stop after work :)

I give this place five stars for ambience.… Most importantly, that it was quiet. There was music playing that was soft in the background. Although there were more than a dozen TVs in the place, I don’t think any of them had the volume turned up. My friend and I could actually sit and have a conversation! What a surprise in this day and age! ????Especially for a sports bar. The decorations in it really played up the Black Beard and pirate theme, even the bathroom, where there was a lot of wood paneling that looked like it might’ve come right off an old pirate ship.

The wait staff was very friendly and personable. I’m sorry I didn’t get her name, but she gave us a lot of attention and checked back with us often.

The only real downside was the food. I ordered the mushroom and Swiss burger medium rare. She said they normally have the mushrooms inside and could not cook it medium rare because of that. If I wanted it medium rare I would’ve had to get the cheese and mushrooms on the outside of it. I decided since I was visiting, I would go for something new and eat it the way they cooked it. I told her I did not want it dried out. Unfortunately, it was dried out. I think I ended up leaving at least a third of it on the plate. My friend and I split an order of fried pickles that was excellent except for just a bit too much salt. The garlic mashed potatoes were really good I could’ve used a bit more butter. And, I could’ve asked for more but just never got around to it.

I will definitely go back to this place the next time I’m in New Bern. I know now to order the burger the way I like it and extra butter for the potatoes. I highly recommend this place!

Great food. Awesome customer care ????. I had chicken salad sandwich. Plenty of chicken salad . So much I could hardly open wide enough to bite the sandwich. Crispy hot fries came with my order. Fast service at lunch. Daily specials. Can't wait to go again.

This place is pretty fun. The pirate theme is actually pretty subtle, so it's not as goofy as some places with similar themes.
The service was great. We never had to wait for anything. We went at around 6PM on a Friday, so it wasn't too busy yet.
The food was okay. It wasn't bad by any means, but it wasn't anything to be remembered.
The prices were about on par with other restaurants downtown. So they are fine for an occasional night out, but too much for a go to casual dining restaurant.
Plenty of drink options, including craft beers.
All in all, it's worth a visit to see for yourself.

Food and service was excellent. I had the Mediterranean Salad and my husband had the Grilled Chicken Sandwich. Outstanding. Portions were generous. Atmosphere was fun. The pirate motif was very cool. We’d go back again in a heartbeat!!
