I’ve been going to MJ’s of and on for about a year, especially on Tuesdays for a dozen oysters and a bowl of soup. The oysters are always amazing and the soup changes all the time from seafood chowders to tortilla to “it doesn’t matter”. They’re all delicious.
The servers are excellent and friendly like Amber, whom I had the pleasure of meeting this past Tuesday.
See you next week????
My fiancee and I stopped in here today and I'm glad we did! We were originally going to grab brunch at Baker's Kitchen, but there was a long wait. So, we decided to try something different and instead grabbed lunch here. I got the Fish and Chips and she got the Unsalad. Both dishes were absolutely delicious. The catfish was absolutely amazing and the salad greens and other ingredients were fresh and looked great. Service was spectacular and friendly. Will definitely be returning in the future!
I visit this establishment almost weekly and have never had a bad experience. The bartender is great and always suggests some tasty entrees. You can't go wrong with anything they serve. Best oyster bar in the area also.
Excellent place, food, staff, beverages. Rather small. I like being at the bar since the bartenders have been there for many years and are fun. I like their peanuts at the bar. Great seafood, especially the raw selections. I always eat here when in New Bern.
My soft shell crab sandwich was about average. The only place to sit that day was outside, what is normally fine, but for whatever reason, the weather or location, our both, we suffered the occasion with many flies. That's not their fault but it was part of our experience.
I think the next I go back I'll try the crab cakes. That should be a cut above the soft shell crab. And perhaps we'll eat indoors next time as well.
