“If you love crab cakes, then this is the place to get them. You should order them a day ahead or arrive early. Vicky will throw in some tartar sauce and Old Bay seasoning. I panned them in olive oil and butter as per her instructions and they came out perfectly. They were delicious—next level!”

“This is a great little spot to get lunch. I tried the reuben and french fries. Reuben was awesome with a beach flair. The rye was perfect, not too bitter but still had that classic rye flavor. Their french fries are to die for! They’re the straight and crispy kind with a seasoning powder. Really yummy food with a chill vibe, not pretentious at all. The couple who own it were very friendly. They are local and the little Ukrainian woman is so bubbly and sweet!”

“This place is dive bar-y in the best of all possible ways. My relatives had been here before and had said once they had to walk once due to bad service. That's the difference between them and me I would not darken the doorway again if I had received the treatment they described to me. That being said the service was fantastic. The place was jumping when we came in for a late lunch. Two of us went raw oysters. They were good and the cocktail sauce was very horseradishy and tasty. My other relative got a fish sandwich. We were still hungry so we ordered some lemon pepper scallops that were outstanding and some crab wasabi bites that were tasty. Seemed to be only two people waiting on everyone and they did a wonderful job. I noticed the young male food runner help an elderly man get from the door to his seat.”

She carries an amazing selection of award-winning cheeses and meats as well as wines and other fine items! I highly recommend using Sophisticated Charcuterie for all your party tray or rental house welcoming needs! Talk about making a great impression! This is definitely a crowd pleaser and an all-around favorite! The store is conveniently located in Kitty Hawk and they have a great online ordering system as well. “We hired Barney to bartend a surprise birthday party in Duck for 20+ people. Leading up to the party she made sure we had all the right ingredients, glassware, tools, etc. for drinks, and on the day of the event she showed up on-time with everything she needed to set up the bar. In addition to making delicious drinks (try the Cape Cosmo!) and being friendly & personable, Barney went above and beyond by checking in on everyone throughout the evening and helping to clean up when things started to die down. Her being so friendly and helpful definitely allowed us to enjoy ourselves more, and we would without a doubt use her again for another family party! Highly recommend!”

“We were starving after a long day of sightseeing and skipping lunch. This restaurant was one of the few still open this time of year, so I’m sure they were booked up for later, but they provided a table for us. Wonderful friendly server, (who was covering the entire dining room) and absolutely delicious food. We did the seafood combo. Oysters, shrimp and fresh flounder ( not pictured). For a starter we had the crab stuffed mushrooms- SO good. Their hush puppies are also wonderful. And bonus- very good coffee! We’d definitely go back.”

“Nice area to visit the lighthouse! There is a lot of parking and they have parking for large vehicles as well. The lighthouse and houses are nice to walk around to look at. The lighthouse is huge! The people inside were very friendly and helped us find a sticker to buy when they ran out! Next door there is a beach with parking as well. We came in December and saved were huge. There were tons of surfers out trying to get out in the waves!”
