“Very pleasant experience. Super welcoming and comfy. Good music and atmosphere while easily being able to hear each other speak. Very solid food with nice taste twists you don’t get in most places. Very good beer selection. Highly recommend the cake and beer special.”

“Truly enjoyed my travels and visiting Downtown Durham and the new Tea Bar Cafe in the Hayti Heritage District. Enjoyed the Morning Melt breakfast sandwich with creamy grits, and coffee. Food cooked well with patience and love, and very tasty and filling! Owner greeted customers with a smile and was very sweet. Looking forward to visiting again soon.”

“We ordered our wedding cake from Mad Hatter for our wedding a couple weeks ago. They did an excellent job with decor and the flavor was great! They delivered all the way out to our farm which is an hour north of Durham, and the man who delivered the cake (I wish I could remember his name!) was so kind and helpful. Great experience all around!”

“The food and drinks are very good at a very reasonable price (less than what I think they could charge). They have lose leaf tea for only $2.5 where as I rarely see a similar product for less than $4. The cafe is cute and good place to work quietly. Outdoor seating is comfortable and suitable for a conversation. So far I have been twice. The first time I was very impressed... Except for one thing. They got my tea order wrong (brought me a different area than I ordered). However the tea was still good and I rolled with it. They don't seem to ask for a name for the order which I think leads to confusion on who ordered what. I recommend they consider this system if they are having issues with not knowing who ordered what. That being said, looking forward to coming back here and a super positive experience overall. I'm sure if I told them they would have happily replaced the tea with the one I ordered as well. Oh and one more positive comment, they have a bowl of water for dogs outside!”

“Loving the new Starbucks! The staff is so cool. It's like getting coffee with friends every morning! JUDY is my favorite barista!! She makes me laugh every-time I go in and she is so careful to get what I want! I change my drink all the time so I can be a challenge!”

“My friend and I enjoyed our experience at Press. She had been to their older location, so she was excited to try this new location next to the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The atmosphere was really cool with modern, trendy furnishings. We had trouble getting service at first because all the staff were running around like crazy. We were finally able to get the attention of the man whom I believe to be the owner, who kindly took our drink orders. We eventually got a waiter to take our food orders but she had a hard time understanding us with the loud background noises. We asked for a side of tater tots twice, but she still managed to not add them to our order. We were very understanding of the confusion though, and it didn't detract from our experience. We both got crepes and they were very good. Our coffee drinks were excellent as well. I think the restaurant could benefit from a more organized staff structure, as it seemed like the staff did not know who was waiting on which tables, and which tables had yet to be served. We also had to ask two different servers for ketchup. Overall it was still a great experience and I am just including these comments so that they can continue to improve and thrive.”

“6:30am waffle house turned me away for cleaning floors, IHOP closed even though schedule said open. Saw Esmeralda's on a Goggle search. I was the only person there. Coffee was great with a Starbucks touch. Omelette and Toast was great and FULL of stuff even though the ham was sandwich deli style ham. Will be back. People seem great too.”

“This place is nice trendy, and very cute. This is one of those places you can hang out with friends and truly enjoy fresh food and drinks. It is seemingly Japanese style and the snacks are wonderful. So far have had their fruit teas, they are refreshing and not loaded with that too much sugar feeling. Nice friendly IG worthy place check it out!”

“Every time I visit, pleasant interactions with the staff. Even though it's a smaller location than the Guess Road one, I prefer this one because my experiences have been better overall. Even with the recent additional traffic since the Guess Road location is temporarily closed... they've made it work! I do look forward to bringing the order-ahead option back once it's manageable. The drive thru line was long so I went inside - and I was impressed with their practices for social distancing for inside ordering.”

“Big shout out to Ninth Street Bakery for hanging in there during the epidemic and still supplying the team with box lunches. I lived the roast turkey sandwich and WOW was that a BIG cookie ????????. I'm still partial to the pumpkin muffin though and the almond cake I had once”

“Awesome food and laid back atmosphere. Come for the food, but stay for the ambiance. Breakfast served all day, tou cant go wrong. Ordered the vegetarian breakfast burrito and it was amazing. Wife had the sweet potato french toast, also amazing. Great spot downtown Durham. Great place for lunch meeting, date night, or just for hanging with friends. Service was swift and staff was quite friendly. You have to try, you will not be disappointed......”

“1st time here! Amazing and tasty food! I had a very full of fresh sliced roast beef sandwich! We enjoyed walking around looking at all the items for sale in the store. There are various types of drinks in the coolers to choose from, or a little coffee shop inside too. You won't go away hungry here! If we're ever back up here, a stop back to here is most definitely going to happen!!”

“I ate here four times in the past week as I was on campus for intensive classes. The grilled cheese with bacon was really good. The breakfast sandwiches (I had bacon, egg, and cheese on asiago one day and another on sesame another day) were really good. Plenty of seating. The employees were nice and helpful.”

“Overall my experience has been good. Only other thing this particular time is that I was looked over while a Caucasian server took care of two other Caucasian male customers behind me. I waited and made eye contact with the server and told her what I needed. Wanted to share because I did feel some type of way. I wonder if anyone else had this experience here. Food was good as usual.”

“Cool spot for a beverage anytime of day. We stopped by in the evening and had excellent service from Tyler who listened to our usual beer and wine choices and offered each of our party of 4 a choice that matched our tastes. The atmosphere is perfect for coffee in the morning, an afternoon break or a beer/wine before or after dinner. Cool little spot that you should check out.”

“While my car was in the shop, I walked across the street to get quick bite. The staff was very helpful and I must say that I have never had such a pleasant experience at a McDonalds before. Staff were very helpful and attentive. There were also new items on the menu that I never had. You can't go wrong by adding bacon!”

“A nice and Cozy cafe. The entrance is hard to spot from outside. There is an entry through the hotel parking lot. The down side of the cafe is that they got a limited selection of coffee and only serve dark roasted coffee. I wish that they had more varieties of coffee or medium roasted coffee.”

“This is the best McDonald's in Durham. Everytime and anytime of day their food is good. Must be good management. All they need is a playground and it would be great to take the kids on Friday evenings. Whatever happened to McDonald's playgrounds anyway”

“The service was excellent! Trying to exit to the left is hard due to traffic. But that's just a warning not anything bad on the establishment's part.”
