Est! Est!! Est!!!

Solidly good Italian food at reasonable prices. We were a bit skeptical because Winston-Salem does not have a shortage of decent Italian restaurants. We went on a Wednesday night, and we’re the only ones in the restaurant, so we still had our doubts. But this also allowed the waiter to be attentive, and he was. We had a few decent wines by the glass and started with a meatball appetizer that was quite good and exceeded our expectations. The entrées were not on the same par as the meatballs, but still very good. My wife finished her octopus salad, and my gnocchi was completely consumed as well. We took a miss on dessert as there was only one flavor of gelato, and I wasn’t in the mood for strawberry. But we thought it would be worth going back. The rest of the experience at Roar is a little bit odd on a Wednesday night, but the place has a lot of potential. I will be curious to see it on a weekend evening.
