Kanpai Japanese Steak & Seafood House

Not quite as good as some of the other Japanese steakhouses I've visited but a respectable choice nonetheless. Positives include courteous servers and fast service once seated. Prices here are also a little bit lower than other similar places. On the negative side, however, the portions of food you get aren't as generous as a Miyabis or Kimonos. The food isnt quite as good as those places either in my opinion and the seating tables are a bit smaller. The chefs do an amazing job, though some of them appeared haggard and overworked.

Other than waiting for what seemed like ever... And yes we did have a reservation... The food was great!! We always enjoy dining here as our son has an egg allergy and this is one Japanese steakhouse that doesn't put eggs in their rice!!!

Food was great. Our cook was amazing he kept us well entertained. Our only issue was that we sat down way before the people across from us and they were waited on first. Other than that it was great.

Luckily we didnt have too long of a wait. We were a group of four and sat with another group. Our server was absolutely amazing. We had a guy named Chris. Very tall. Our cook was also great. He did an amazing job on the food and had us laughing the entire time. I really enjoyed myself and my meal at this establishment this evening. The bananas at the end are to die for.

I have come here for decades. A landmark in Winston Salem at this point. The food is always great and entertaining. However I feel they have far outgrown their capabilities. It's usually at least a 30 to 45 min wait past your reservation time. Perhaps there is need of a 2nd location. But could definitely use a bigger building and staff to accommodate their growth..
