This was our first time at the new diner. Having been loyal patrons of the 209 Cafe, which we love, we thought we would give this a try. It is still relatively new, so we didn’t go in with really high expectations.
The pros:
Food was good
Came out fast
Cons:
10 minute wait to be greeted, while many people including the manager, walked by.
Food came out wrong; my fruit was on husband’s plate, his toast was not
The fruit (extra 99 cents to sub for grits) was all melon and over ripe and yucky
The manager did stop at our table after we got our food and brought us a different serving of melon.
We may try again since it still looks like they are working the bugs out.
We had a fantastic breakfast outside with a group of 15 and everything we had was delicious! The pancakes are solid and the Spicy Goat Chicken was surprisingly great! Our server was awesome and took the time to give extra care to a couple people with food allergies. Defiantly go and try this place.
Food was delicious. Chicken with pimento cheese was so tender. Onion rings were tender yet crispy. The chocolate pie was fabulous.
The Dinner was comfortable, clean and everyone seemed to be happy and comfortable. Real hometown dinner feel but elevated.
Although our waitress was lovely and no real complaints, wait time was a bit long and had to repeat requests a couple times. But we'd be happy to have her again.
My girlfriend and I had to run some errands in Waynesville, so went here for breakfast today on a whim. First off, the aesthetics are great, with a beautiful old style straight out of the 1920s. Credit to whoever renovated this place. The food was fantastic as well, highly recommend trying the Philly Omelette! The ribeye was tender and the seasoning on the peppers and mushrooms made it. My only knock is that the service was very underwhelming. It took about 5 minutes for a waitress to come check on us, and another 10 before our actual waitress came over to get us drinks. Food came out quick once we ordered, but getting the check back was what really disappointed me. I paid in cash and coins, but never got back my change. I know it may have only been a few cents, but it still bothered me, because we waited about 15 minutes for that change.
All in all, great food, but hope the service improves. But don't knock it till you try it, because this place just opened! I'd give it the benefit of the doubt if I were you.
