“Actually this should be a 4.5 or a 4.75. We are in Franklin on vacation and tried them out for dinner. Seeing the almost empty parking lot was a little worrisome, but we were also dining early. Love the hand painted tables. Margarita prepared exactly as requested (he is very specific with contents). Chips were warm and fresh. Salsa had great flavor and appears to be either made fresh or at least "tweaked". Our meals arrived HOT and my husbands fajitas were the first I have ever seen not floating in grease. Our 11 year old grandson commented on how finely the hamburger was chopped in his taco. Our meals were excellent and WE will return before we head home.”

“MUST GO! Cheap food, great service, quiet homey environment. Nothing says home cooking like home made desserts. Breakfast foods and then some, they close at 3 I believe so not much dinner selections but they do have lunch choices. You can tell they care about what they're doing and the food they're cooking. You don't get to experience that much anyone with the uprise of chain restaurants, if you haven't had the pleasure of experiencing care in your food this is the place to find it.”

“We pass 3 other Mexican restaurants on our way to Charro. We've never had a bad experience. The food is always great and the prices are fair. Promt and courteous service. I would also like to mention how well the staff handles the less than friendly locals. Several times I was there I tipped our server extra just because I could hear how rude and entitled another table is. You guys always do a fantastic job and deserve the recognition every bit.”

“We are always looking for the mom and pop places and this is one of our faves! It has an old time diner feel with the stools at the counter and the window to the kitchen. I am a fan of the omelets but they have good burgers as well. They are cash only but there is an ATM available (yes for a fee but not unreasonable). We always sit at the counter and love talking with the staff. The service is exceptional, and I've noticed they take good care of customers in booths also ; ) We are travelers and will soon be parting for our next destination but we will add The Franklin Cafe to our list of favorite spots for sure!”

“A little hole in the wall so we weren't completely sure what we were getting in to. But the food was really good. I've been craving chicken fried rice and it did not disappoint in the least! Chicken was tender and the entire dish was delicious! Staff was scarce and you got a bottle of soda with a glass of ice. For some that might turn you away but we were fine with it. We will return again for the food.”

“I came to Captain D's here in Franklin North Carolina after exiting Winding Stair Gap from the Appalachian Trail. This was my next town to resupply. After being on the trail for over 2 weeks this was the spot that I knew I needed to stop. I stopped outside on the curb and I looked at their reviews online. After seeing it was a 4.2 star rating I went inside and took my chance. I can say this is the best Captain D's that I've ever been to. The store on the outside is immaculate but not in the best spot off the highway. The bathrooms were very clean, the service was outstanding at the counter, and the food is absolutely spectacular. Any day of the week I would love to come here and eat. The dining room is very clean, from what I could see the kitchen and the people are very clean, the food was amazing and the overall staff are very knowledgeable. If you haven't eaten here yet you absolutely need to.”

“Every time I go to this location, my wait is minimal, the staff is very professional. Midday Friday lunch rush, I ordered 3-Extra Most Bestest pepperoni pizzas. 15 minute wait, Christian (the man on register) made sure to handle the 8 separate orders after mine. All with taking time to inform me on my order's progress, in the middle of the rush no less. Needless to say, it was clean and stocked with drinks and sauces. Excellent job to the staff!”

“July 3rd. Visited here and waited 20 minutes to get my bucket and fixins (not upset, long drive-thru que the day before a holiday). 3 employees on the back line, 1 on window and another on the front counter. We decided to walk inside and order our food to go due to the growing line outside. Nearly vacant inside, everyone sitting down seemed to have their food and be enjoying their food as best they can. In the back line there was chaos, and laughter, and not a care in the world. The only reason, and I mean the ONLY reason this place gets three stars, on this visit. Is because 1. The food quality, I had no complaints 2. The dining area was clean 3. The front of house employee working at 8:00 p.m. his name is Cyrus (hopefully the spelling is right) despite being in a high-stress situation, this guy still pulled our order together in 20 minutes with minimal help and excellent customer service. It's hard to hide stress and as a customer who has worked food service I could see this guy was trying hard to keep his crew together during one of the most busy nights of the year. Excellent work Cyrus, your hard work did not go unnoticed.”

“This place is amazing. Get there early to get the tamales. Steak and chicken tacos are amazing, but the Al Pastor is the best taco I have EVER had. Definitely give them a try.
