Love me some Ethiopian food, and this place did not disappoint. Had the Awaze Tibs. Not too spicy, but a good mixture of heat and flavor. I have a big appetite and the portion was big enough for two meals for me.
First time eating Ethiopian food. It was GREAT! Fresh, wonderful flavors, great quality and friendly service! We love Optimist Hall and this was our second time as a family visiting! Such a great place but having places like this make this place special. Help support the diversity of food there and try it out! You won’t be disappointed! I had the lamb derek-style tibs with fosolia, gomen and injera. Ate everything on the plate! Great job!
Enat was the last place I tried at Optimist Hall and it ended up being one of my favorite options. It’s one of the few places in OH that will give you an actual plate to mimic an in-restaurant experience.
The Samusa appetizer is fantastic. It’s loaded with filling (beef in our case) and crispy, not greasy, on the outside. The Classic Tibs and Derek Tibs are worth a try every time. The DT is the fried option and the Beef Rib Eye bites are crisp and juicy. We’ve tried most sides and the Ater (Yellow Stew), Miser (Red Stew) and Fosolia (Green Beans and Carrots). The Injera is made fresh daily and spongy as you’d expect to soak up the food.
Food comes out quickly for OH, usually 5-10 minutes for fresh cooked food. Service is good and remember to return the plates. As is three new normal, parking is only free for 90 minutes at OH. If you’re planning on shopping or hanging out for a beer after a meal, you’ll have to pay. Overall though, Enat is very good. There aren’t many true, authentic Ethiopian restaurants in Charlotte so be sure to check this place out.
I recently had the pleasure of trying Ethiopian cuisine, and let me tell you, it was a delightful experience! One of the dishes that truly won me over was the chicken with lentils and cabbage served with injera.
The chicken was cooked to perfection, tender and packed with flavor. It had a delightful blend of spices that made every bite a tasty adventure. Paired with the lentils, it created a satisfying and wholesome combination that left me feeling truly satisfied.
Now, let's talk about injera, the traditional Ethiopian flatbread. It was unlike anything I've ever tried before, with its spongy texture and slight tanginess. It served as the perfect vessel for scooping up the chicken and lentils, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to each bite.
The entire meal was a burst of flavors and aromas that made my taste buds dance with joy. It's the kind of food that brings people together, with its communal style of eating and sharing dishes. The warmth and hospitality of Ethiopian cuisine really shine through.
If you're looking for a unique and delicious dining experience, I highly recommend trying this Ethiopian food gem. The classic chicken tibs with lentils and injera is a great place to start. You'll be treated to a flavorful journey that will leave you with a smile on your face and a happy belly!
Enat is a fantastic Ethiopian restaurant . The vegan mushrooms tibs are awesome. The string beans are also super tasty. The mushrooms are on the spicy side but they’re so delicious.
