Went to runaway for a little date night and this place was amazing! Absolutely loved the intimate vibe. The drinks were so well crafted and fun (including the bartenders choice of a bubble drink)! I’m a sucker for a good flight, and an espresso martini flight with such a fun variety- I’m sold. Everything throughout the bar was so elegant, even down to the glassware. Definitely a place worth coming back to!
My partner and I went to Runaway last weekend for our date night. We truly enjoyed ourselves! The ambiance and décor are awesome and I loved the 20s vibe. The hostess was friendly and inviting and our server, Emily (I think), was kind, helpful, and attentive. The drinks were very good! We had a Smoked Whiskey Sour, Rattle Skull, Cat's Pajamas, and All the Queen's Men (A fave!). For food we got the Pretzel Sticks (sooo yummy), the Deco Dips (the pita and pita chips were so good), the Potato Croquettes (yum!), and the Short Rib (YES!). We really enjoyed ourselves and everything was delicious, even the water! We will definitely be back for a double date with our friends who enjoy whiskey as well.
Walked in & had a corner table. Service took a bit long to get our first cocktails, & music was giving Harry Potter vibes. They ended up turning this halfway thru our service to something more "clublike". Wasn't really there for the food, but food was ehhhh. Plates were not wiped down and looked greasy. Fingerprints all over the sides & not well plated. Lots of room for improvement. Nothing stuck out like.. "THIS is what makes us different than every other dark cocktail space in charlotte".
Loved Runaway Whiskey & Wine in Charlotte North Carolina. I went to streetcar a few weeks ago and was so excited to hear they were opening something in the back. I really loved the space. It was dark with a bunch of tables and they had a really great bar. I ended up ordering the RATTLE SKULL- tequila, peach, lime, maraschino and pear nectar. I really loved the drink so much. My drink of choice is a dirty martini with blue cheese olives and I saw a bunch of people ordered that and I will definitely order it next time. The food menu looked great also. Someone next to us had the salad and it looked amazing. I’m absolutely going back to try other things. The service was spectacular as well. Our bartender was very attentive!! They also have outdoor seating. Can’t wait to go in the summer!!
It's a really cool spot! It was such a nice place for drinks with friends or a date night. The inside is beautiful art deco, and the food is delicious. The deviled eggs are a must try. The drinks were strong and very tasty, with the Saint Charles being our tables favorite of the evening, it had a nice smokiness to it. The only thing we want to see is maybe a vegetarian dish and a gluten-free option as there were none. Our server, Jameson, was wonderful and attentive! Definitely recommend checking this spot out.
