“I love surprises! We're always looking for places to eat when we're out in the middle of nowhere and this one was a real find. Quaint inside. Limited parking, but enough for the size of the establishment. They were quick to bring our food. They had the best coconut creme pie I've ever had and the cheese steak was much better than anything we can get in Charlotte.”

“The Cranberry Pecan Salad was amazing! The service was impeccable. What a joy it was to sit and people watch and chat during lunch. I will return and certainly recommend it to anyone. Try the Maple Pecan Praline ice cream when you're there.”

“Helen's is a great American relic-- a truly local restaurant where you get a sense of small-town rural American culture. Very few tourists here, mostly locals who have been coming for decades. There specialty is down-home country cooking. They don't spare the grease, because that is what their clientele wants. This is deep south, where good means deep fried. Nothing against it, but my stomach just can't handle it anymore. I stick with the BLT or ham sandwich, though I know people who relish the Ruben with fries, and seem no worse off. They do try for fresh-- their burgers are homemade, and salads are good. But mostly I love the smiley waitresses with their local drawls and genuine happiness to see you. They're happy to help with anything, and even hang naturally at your table for a bit of gossip. Finally the local-made cakes and pies are true South, and to die for. Stop, at least for a humongous piece of fresh cake (you'll need to share) and coffee (no espresso drinks here), and you will have a truly international level experience.”

“Absolutely one of the finest meals my wife and I have enjoyed in quite a long time. The servers were attentive, knowledgeable and enthusiastic....as well as quite correct about the merits of the Key Lime pie! The ribs exquisite, the filet exceptional ...kudos to all involved in making our visit to Mountain Holler an evening to remember.”
