A & G Barbecue & Chicken

Very down home feel with very good food. Staff was fast, friendly and attentative. Ordered takeout, quick pickup and got me own my way with everything I needed. Pork BBQ and the sides (collards, green beans, fries and apple bites) were delicious. Deducted one star because I was disappointed int he shrimp which was tiny and appeared to be from frozen rather than locally sourced. Also, the hushpuppies had potential, but were pretty dry. Overall I would recommend.

Absolutely delicious! The breakfast is amazing. Hot, buttery grits. Housemade sausage patties. Biscuits are a little dense but so, so yummy. The fried chicken and greens are perfect, with vinegar upon request. The service is also wonderful. Very friendly and attentive. We also buy the bottled sauce to bring home and enjoy even after vacation ends.

My wife has several food allergies, Amanda was kind and accommodated so we could share a meal. Great mom n pop experience. We will be back!

Hole in the wall place that served good food, big variety, big portions. Thoroughly enjoyed the southern fried veggies...okra and squash. Homemade potato salad, little hush puppies, and sweet tea also. Pulled pork and fried chicken was great. None of the fried food options I had were greasy. Highly recommend.

On a short trip out of Wilmington, I had a hankering for some barbecue (I was visiting North Carolina, so obviously, I was on the search for the best). Eschewing the chicken park and going straight for the barbecue pork, I can say this place did not disappoint. What's more is that the ambiance feels like it should—the place is casual and all about the amazing smoked meat they sell!
