The food was excellent! I had the Pernil which is Roast Pork, with yellow rice and pigeon peas (gandules). Memories of Brooklyn!
Ok so I'm a Puerto Rican from the Bronx, I love Spanish restaurants. It has been years since I could say that this is one of my newly favorite places to eat because
1. Real Latino food and
2. It's not Mexican Food(not that all Mexican food is bad but, I've had enough of it... Other people that don't know any better onky know Mexican food as Spanish food)
So that being said, you must come to this place. I mean I'm calling all my Latino peoples and say that if you miss eating at Spanish restaurants from NYC or real authentic home cooked foods waste no time.
What did I eat?
Well I had some Pernil(pulled pork cooked Spanish style), Moro(yellow rice with pigeon peas) and Tostones(fried yellow plantains) along with it's mojito (not the drink. It's a minced garlic and olive oil dip)
Of course I was not alone in this great eating adventure of mine. My wife had the Mofongo stuffed with chicharrón(It's a mound of plantain with pork grinds inside) both meals came with a small side salad.
The amount of food you get is definitely worth the price, unless you have a big appetite, you will have enough for a second meal.
Seriously people if you wanna try some real authentic Spanish food give this place a shot. You will not regret it.
I was pleasantly surprised by my meal here & there was a generous portion. I had the lunch special of stewed chicken with beans & rice which comes with a lettuce & tomato side. It was super tasty without being so spicy that it burned my mouth. I enjoyed the flavors and couldn’t eat all of it, but I was surprised at the price - it was a bit high and would probably keep me from going back. The price for the lunch special wasn’t posted and was $13.00.
Food was good but service was a little lacking. Could be a bit cheaper too. But nice and worth a try!
