il Cigno Italiano

Spent my life eating and preparing home made Italian food so I consider myself sort of an expert. So after living here in cateret county for the past 2 years it's nice to see a Italian restaurant finally open. After reviewing the menu there were many favorites of mine so I decided to start with some Italian basics to see how their chef did with basic pasta and fish. The calamari was cooked perfectly but the squid had a very fishy taste so I gave it a 5 out of 10. Next the pasta Bolognese the dish is touted as home made pasta. The pasta was way to thick and uncooked and flowery in the center. The sauce made with pork was very tasty and the best part of the entire meal. So the pasta dish I would give a 4 out of ten being the pasta just wasn't made properly in my opinion. Next came the check where I saw the price of my bowl of pasta. I never look at the prices before actually eating the dish so I do not have expectations based on price. When I saw they were charging me 27 dollars for a bowl of pasta I was taken by surprise. Absolutely the most expensive bowl of pasta I have been served in 65 years and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone for half the cost. So if you want a expensive night out on the town with so so Italian cuisine this is the place!!!

Beautiful waterfront location with staff that cater to your needs. Although the wait can be long if you do not make a reservation, it's worth it. I've gone here a couple times already, and the food has never let me down. Always stay for dessert, too. If you're in the Swansboro area and are looking for a good Italian place with a relaxing atmosphere, then this is the spot.

The food was amazing, the meatballs were to write home about!! Better than any of the food was the wonderful waiter we had!! Our glasses barely got half empty before he was there with a refill!!! He was awesome!!! Thank you Bob for the great service!!

Really good restaurant, very authentic, yet unique dishes, one of the best meals I've had in the last year. Don't skip dessert, we tried everything and each were unique and a culinary treat, in house made, such a treat! Can't wait to go back! The eggplant meatballs were delicious and unlike anything I've ever eaten! 10!

Absolutely love this place! Great food and great atmosphere. We had a wide variety of food, but the best was the Bolognese. It's like a lasagna pasta!
