Spike's Hot Chicken And Dogs

I have been to Spike's several times to dine-in, and have gotten pick-up orders from there an absolutely shameful amount of times. When I first discovered it, I was eating their chicken 2-3 times a week because it is absolutely killer. The seasoning is top-notch, spicy and flavorful, the chicken is fried very well, and the hot dogs and side options are varied, creative, and flawlessly executed.

Beyond the food, the service is also excellent, with all of the staff I've interacted with being very friendly and attentive people who also cultivate an atmosphere of laid-back and pleasant dining. I went twice yesterday and was very well taken-care-of by my server (for both lunch and dinner), Zach. Even when there was a mix-up with my lunch order, Zach, the management, and the folks in the kitchen took care of it with speed and aplomb in the middle of a busy lunch hour, which I greatly appreciated and which led me to return for dinner to express that gratitude.

I really cannot recommend Spike's highly enough. If you're in the mood for delicious food, friendly people, and the fantastic daily specials they offer that I haven't even bubbled over in this review, please check them out!

Best hot chicken in town!! Spice levels elevate relatively quickly but the flavor of all (mild all the way up to their spiciest) are absolutely incredible. And their sides? Amazing. Spicy Mac and cheese and the fried honey mustard brussel sprouts are to die for.

Best hot chicken I've had this side of Nashville! Great heat, crispy skin, and oh-so-delicious!

You've GOT to try their brussel sprouts (believe me on this) and their spicy mac and cheese!

Oh boy, oh boy do I love me some Spike's Hot Chicken. I go just about every other week. It's kinda silly to me that there aren't really any great Nashville style hot chicken areas around the Triangle, or if there are, I'm not aware of them. The chicken is suuuuper solid, I'm pretty sure they use just dark meat for their sandwiches and all of their sides are pretty good. The staff is always friendly, and the food comes out timely. Do yourself a favor and go check this place out! Also, come to Durham!

This place is awesome. Super friendly bar staff. Service is a little slow but it's worth it. If you have never had hot chicken before you should definitely check this place out. Get the tenders with a side of honey. Have great enjoyed each of the sides I have tried there especially the new brussel sprouts and green beans, yum!!!
