Stopped here only a couple of times for burgers and beers while we explored all parts of the Hocking Hills State Park, but it reminded me of some of the lodges in US national parks on our car trips when I was a kid. A big, neat place, but I don't know what the accommodations are like.
The lovely lady at the Hocking Hills Regional Welcome Center did not steer us wrong with this recommendation! The food and service is outstanding! Chef prepared meal for half what you'd pay elsewhere! If in this area make this a meal stop for sure!
Went last year, and the food was great, but the building needed some TLC. Went again and the food was just as great (I had the pulled pork, wife had the catfish—both were excellent) and the carpet had been replaced and the paint touched up to a point where everything looked like it was being maintained. They also have an excellent selection of local craft beers, wine, and a solid, top-quality menu. I highly recommend it!
Went on a locals recommendation. After the epic and beautiful drive in I was a little worried upon seeing the ambience. My fears were quelled upon receiving a fantastic tossed salad.I know this may seem like a strange dish to compliment it was fresh and we'll presented with what was most certainly a house made ranch. I ordered the brisket with potatoes Au gratin...Both were insanely awesome. Like shockingly awesome. Seriously the best thing about Ohio. Low bar I know but they cleared it by a lot.
Dining at the lodge was recently taken over by the current management of the Lake Hope Lodge and former management of the Big Chimney Bakery - and wow is the food good. I understand from others that Hocking Hills Dining Lodge was not on people's lists to visit before, but check this out. I recommend hiking first - eating the rich food 2nd. Try the Brisket and Au Gratin potatoes.
