Love this place after kayaking or hiking in Hocking Hills. Although the ribs were cold yesterday and I learned they don't have a happy hour at the bar, I give 4.5 stars.
I always get one of the BBQ combos. Yum! Big meal. Brisket and smoked turkey are my faves. I like the baked sweet potato (comes with whipped butter and cinnamon-sugar on the side) and substituting a vegetable for the baked beans.
Always several great craft beers on tap. Not much of a bourbon selection... Enjoy!
We visited during a weekend trip to Hocking Hills. The host sat us right away and was polite. Our server wasn't impolite but I wouldn't say she was personable or very friendly. She also only checked on us once and it was to ask if we were ready for the bill.. Food was decently priced and tasted okay.
Friendly staff, very fast service and an easy to reach location. I had the brisket sandwich with a side of coleslaw. The brisket was tender and well smoked. The sauces, one sweet and one spicy were nice. I ended up combining both of them. The coleslaw was fresh and the serving generous- a full cup, not one of those pathetic little plastic sauce cups most places use.
Next time, I'll try the pork.
What a special place! It's about an 80 minute drive but it is worth it. The choices are overwhelming and everything looks so good.
I had the jalapeno appetizer which was too hot for some of the table but just right for me - nice and peppery! The three little pigs is a great variety dish as well. Hands down the best potato salad I have ever tasted. I cannot wait to return to try more entrees.
I wish the restaurant was a little easier to get to (the roads are a bit confusing) and I wish there were more varied sauces on the table. Very minor complaints though.
Go, you will not be disappointed!
We went here on a weekend trip to Hocking Hills. Parking was plentiful, but the lot is not well lit. We only had to wait about 5 minutes, which is pretty good for a Friday night. They bring cornbread muffins out to the table that are delicious. We ordered the meat platter and it was very good as well. The atmosphere is exactly what you would expect of a BBQ place. Good for families and also good for some BBQ and beer. Our server wasn't great (didn't check on us, didn't refill drinks, etc.) but I noticed other servers were more attentive. They do sing and give a free desert for birthdays! The restaurant is also located near shops within walking distance. I would definitely recommend this place to visitors.
