Elsa's Mexican Restaurant

Been here a couple of times. I like the variety of food options, not just one genre (for lack of a better word). The atmosphere is upbeat and the place is a local mainstay. The food has been decent the handful of times I've been... nothing spectacular, but of acceptable no-complaints quality. Great margaritas!

It's not bad for a bar restaurant. Some locations are better than others. Just being honest.

Our server was pleasant and helpful (purple lipstick, sorry I don't remember her name). It was pretty busy, due to a football game on TV. We weren't clear on the cuisine theme of the establishment. It's labeled Mexican, but the variety extended to seafood, American eats, to Caribbean eats.... That was a bit confusing.

We ordered wings ... Jamaican jerk and Thai Sweet and Sour...

Neither were anything to write home about. My fiance is Jamaican, so our standards are a bit different.

The Bad Juan were okay. Again, nothing to write home about .

This is all said with a genuine heart. We live in Texas, Houston which is a huge melting pot of diversity... We were here visiting my family... So our expectations for Mexican, Jamaican, or any culturally inspired cuisine is different from the average person.

Atmosphere was nice. Welcoming and picturesque of a TV show.

We probably wouldn't visit again. Different strokes for different folks.

I have ordered carry out a few times before, but this was the first time I have dined in. I had a large party of people and had a good time! The food and service was amazing. Also, the interior is warm and inviting. They serve hamburgers and pizzas too. My father had a hamburger and said it was really good for a restaurant that doesn't specialize in burgers. A few of my members complained about the small seating space and a door leading outside in the hallway that the bathroom is located, but we can see ourselves ordering at Elsa's again!
